Wonder Woman: First Glimpse Of Blockbuster

An action-packed trailer has been released for the first Wonder Woman movie in the iconic superhero's 75-year history.

The first glimpse of the eagerly-anticipated film, which is due out in June 2017, was unveiled at Comic-Con International in San Diego.

Gal Gadot reprises her role in Batman v Superman to take the lead in the upcoming Warner Bros blockbuster, which also stars Star Trek's Chris Pine.

The World War I-era adventure, directed by Patty Jenkins, tells the story of the Amazon warrior and immortal daughter of Zeus.

Coming across American pilot Steve Trevor after he crashes on the island of Themyscira, he tells her about the global conflict and she leaves her home to try to stop it.

The trailer release coincides with the 75th anniversary of the comic book character, first played by Lynda Carter in the 1970s TV show.

It signals a darker take on the world than its glitzy small screen predecessor, but there are still familiar features, including Wonder Woman's magic lasso.

Gadot said: "Knowing how many people care so much for this character ... it was important to portray (her) in a way everyone can relate."

Wonder Woman was among a host of films to be showcased by Warner bros at Comic-Con, the annual gathering of movie, television and comic book fans.

The first footage of superhero movie Justice League was shown while Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne presented the latest trailer for the Harry Potter spin-off movie Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them.
