Ashley Young completes move to Inter Milan

Longtime Manchester United defender Ashley Young has officially signed with Inter Milan.

The deal is through the rest of the season, with an option to extend a year this summer. Sky Sports reports the fee is about $1.7 million.

Young turned down a contract extension earlier this month with United, where he’s been since 2011 and won the Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League. Primarily a winger as a youngster, Young has remade himself into a capable fullback and still has pace at 34 years old.

That kind of versatility and veteran presence figure to only help manager Antonio Conte and Inter, who are trying to win Serie A for the first time since winning the league/Coppa Italia/Champions League treble in 2010 under Jose Mourinho.

Solskjaer confirmed Young was about to join Inter in his Friday news conference.

Young becomes the third United player to join Inter since last summer, with Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez already in Milan.
