New York City drag star goes on the hunt for new apartment with enough storage for his wigs

On this episode of In The Know: Find My Dream Room, host Will Taylor (@brightbazaar) helps New York City drag star, Michael (aka Pink Pancake), find a 2-bedroom apartment with lots of extra storage space for wigs and drag ensembles. He also wants the apartment to be close to the subway, and in-unit or in-building laundry would be the cherry on top of this dream space. With a $3,000 budget between Michael and his roommate, can Will give this drag performer everything on his wish list?

The first unit Will shows Michael is a 2-bedroom that boasts an in-unit washer-dryer. The modern kitchen is full of sleek, updated appliances (like a dishwasher) and has a ton of counter space. Michael loves the large closet in one of the bedrooms, and best of all, the apartment comes in under budget at $2,600.

Next up is an apartment with tons of space. At $2,727 per month, it offers a separate dining room and living room, but neither gets a lot of natural light. On the flip side, the two bedrooms each have huge windows and private balconies to boot!

Finally, Will shows Michael an apartment that checks off most of the boxes. It’s a 3-bedroom unit where one of the bedrooms has a ton of closet space, and the extra bedroom could be used as even more storage space for Michael’s drag ensembles. Plus it’s got a dishwasher! But the apartment is slightly over budget at $3,300. Will Michael go for it?

Three weeks later, Michael reveals that he and his roommate went for apartment number two! He felt the unit had the most space for his drag outfits and he loved the bedrooms’ natural light and balconies.
