Beauty YouTuber faces backlash for 'overhyped' product launch: 'I'm disgusted'

Beauty YouTuber Jaclyn Hill has found herself in hot water once again after sharing photos of her new product display at Ulta.

Hill is being criticized by customers and fans, who say her newest makeup launch doesn’t have a diverse enough shade range — and is allegedly not the best quality product.

An upload to the Instagram page @trendmood1 showed Hill’s newest display at Ulta, which was bombarded with dissatisfied comments — some of which have supposedly been deleted from Instagram but were screenshotted by other news outlets.

“This line looks boring, and once again, overhyped,” one user wrote. “[I] don’t trust her ethics and never will.”

“TBH I’m disgusted with the prices of her products alone,” another added. “After everything with her brand that’s happened so far, she expects people to pay that much?”

According to Ulta’s website, the Bronze & Blushing Duo clocks in at $36, while the individual highlighters are $29.

Hill, who started her popular YouTube channel in 2011, launched a lipstick line in 2019 that also faced backlash after buyers allegedly found fuzz and hair in the products.

More recently, in February, fans were skeptical of Hill’s new “mystery box” promotion, during which she sold bundles of random makeup products that could range from $25 to $65 — depending on the number of items. Hill eventually revealed the “mystery” products.

Social media users also took issue with Hill’s newest launch due to the display photo used in its advertising at Ulta.

“Why did her skin tone darken so much on the image?” one Instagram user asked. “You’d think she didn’t learn s*** from the experiences she’s had so far.”

Others expressed irritation over the lack of shade range for Hill’s bronzers.

“She just released 8 shades of beige bronzers and some subpar blushes that don’t cater to dark skin!” one comment wrote.
