OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (AP) _ YRC Worldwide Inc. (YRCW) on Wednesday reported a loss of $49.1 million in its first quarter.

The Overland Park, Kansas-based company said it had a loss of $1.48 per share. Losses, adjusted for asset impairment costs and non-recurring costs, came to $1.12 per share.

The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 73 cents per share.

The trucking company posted revenue of $1.18 billion in the period, which met Street forecasts.

YRC shares have more than doubled since the beginning of the year. The stock has dropped 29% in the last 12 months.
