There’s nothing worse than the panic that sets it right before you’re out the door. You’re finally ready to head out — if only you could just zip that back zipper. But when there’s no one around to help, you’re pretty much doomed to spend an eternity fussing to grasp the elusive hardware. This fashion emergency is only second to having to put on a bracelet without any help.

Luckily, In The Know’s Lisa Azcona is here to answer your prayers with this simple hack to close up that pesky zipper on your own.
“Zipping a dress isn’t always as easy as it might seem. Especially if you’re by yourself,” Lisa said. “This DIY hack might actually make it less of a headache.”
She has gone up against stubborn zippers in the past and knows how annoying they can be.
“This task, which can seem so simple, can be incredibly frustrating,” she explained. “I live by myself so I don’t always have someone readily available to help me with my wardrobe dilemmas.”
What you’ll need:
1 shoelace
1 safety pin
“The first thing you’re going to want to do is open up the safety pin and put it through one of the ends of the shoelace,” Lisa said.
Then, grab the dress and thread the pointed end of the hook into the hole of the zipper. Next, close the pin.
“When you finally have your dress on, you’ll be able to grab your shoelace to pull that zipper up,” Lisa said. “This DIY hack will help you take the stress out of putting on your favorite dress.”
