There may be many places to party in the Greek islands, but few destinations can lay claim to this much glitz and glamour – especially when you can rest your heads at the best hotels in Mykonos.
The star-frequented Cycladic island (check out our list of the best hotels in Santorini if you're after the more romantic isle) has swapped sleepy fishing villages for jet-set-friendly parties, soundtracked by international DJs dropping in. There are beach clubs for the yacht crowd, buzzy bars and nightlife, and global restaurant brands that every self-respecting A-list-attracting destination simply has to have (we're looking at you, Zuma).
Along with golden beaches and its cobblestoned main town, the island’s other landmarks are whitewashed sugar-cube structures and its iconic 16th-century windmills. See the sea-edge houses in the artist-favoured Little Venice area, or sail over to uninhabited Delos for an archaeological education.
Relatively new arrivals to the island include super-cool Cali and Kalesma, the latter of which translates as 'inviting' in Greek so we have high hopes. Cali is home to what must be the best (and likely longest) pool on the island – it's also on a much quieter corner of the island, over in Kalafatis Beach, making it the perfect place to recuperate if you've partied a little too hard.
Bill & Coo is worth a trip just to see its LED-lit pool – and its Valmont spa and Beefbar outpost aren’t bad either.

Cali Mykonos
Mykonos has been one of Greece’s most-visited destinations for decades now, but somehow Cali still managed to carve out a quiet corner of the island when it debuted on these glamorous Cycladic shores this season (after a soft launch last summer). It’s well away from the action in sleepy Kalafatis, with its own tiny cove and wondrous views of neighbouring isles.
There are standalone villa-style suites, each of which has a private pool; golf buggies whizzing you up and down the resort’s steep slopes; and a slick lobby with an ornamental pool you’ll want a dip in – but the star of the show is undoubtedly the lengthy (we’re talking 110 metres) infinity pool, which stretches along the edge of the cliff. The hotel also has a jetty with a small fleet of yachts and skipper on hand for touring the southern shores of Mykonos and dropping anchor at nearby beaches, such as Agios Ioannis and Agia Anna (or indeed, the clothing-optional Elia), famous beach clubs like Jackie O’ or restaurants in a cave above the water (Spilia). And Cali Mykonos is set to get even better in time for the 2024 season, when the spa and sushi restaurant will be unveiled.
This may be one of the world’s ultimate see and be seen places, but the chances are you’ll be quite content in your secluded Cycladic sanctuary at Cali. For when you are eventually ready to emerge, Mykonos is now the proud owner of a Zuma restaurant, which has a pool and beach-club vibes, as well as its signature superb Japanese food – the views at sunset are absurd.
Bill & Coo Suites & Lounge
One of the island’s original blow-out boltholes, Bill & Coo is still among the hottest places to stay on Mykonos – not least because of its sparkling LED-lit pool, stellar service and rooms that have day-beds on a deck above their plunge pool. At the Valmont spa, book in for a facial to ensure party-ready skin or a massage on the off chance you're not feeling relaxed enough.
Over at the hotel's newly expanded sister site in Agios Ioannis, there’s a Beefbar outpost awaiting on the beach – the jet-set-approved restaurant brand is seen at self-respecting stays the world over. Beefbar may be most famous for the 50:50 butter-to-potato ratio in its indulgent mashed potatoes, but also serves delicious salads and lighter dishes suited to a scorching Greek summer. This seaside restaurant is precisely where you should seek shade (and ceviche) beneath a mulberry tree.
Bill & Coo Suites & Lounge is a few minutes' walk from Mykonos Town, so you'll be within easy reach of the action but dreamily secluded from it, too. DJs are on hand to soundtrack your sunsets before you've even officially started your night out.
Kenshō Ornos
Mykonos Town is often heaving in high summer, so for something a little quieter, check in to a hotel in another part of the island. A short drive from the town centre in the village of Ornos Bay – where you get beaches in both directions, since it’s at the island’s slimmest point – Kenshō Ornos is a boutique hotel with just 35 rooms and a rooftop terrace with impressive views. It also has a cave spa (the only one on the island), where you can relax after your Codage Paris treatment on sensory beds that change colour and make soothing sounds like jungle noises to relax you even further (or send you to sleep).
The rooms are stacked up and down the hillside, with a small outdoor pool to hang out at during the day. Refreshment is on hand from the restaurant in the form of delicious gyoza and possibly the world’s best calamari. For sundown, head up to the terrace, which has a hot tub as an added bonus to the views.
And for a room with a view, book the aptly named Vista Suite and enjoy the panoramas out across Ornos Bay and beyond from your spacious terrace.
Bonzoe Homes & Villas

Couples will love the sea-facing one-bedroom option, but there’s also a three-bedroom villa that’s great for groups hoping to take the hedonism seriously. Helpfully, the concierge is on hand to arrange yacht charters or helicopter tours of the island for those who want to experience Mykonos the authentic (read: flashy) way.
Bohème
Close to the island’s iconic windmills, Bohème gives guests yet more whitewashed Cycladic architecture in the form of its traditional suites, many of which have outdoor Jacuzzis. More contemporary additions include statement lighting, retro chairs and fans that mimic those windmills. The decor lives up to the name, with bohemian wicker and a beige and white palette ensuring breezy, laid-back vibes.
The mountainside setting means views of the Aegean, the port and Mykonos Town, often visible from the terraces and balconies of the 20 rooms. It’s close to the artists’ quarter of Little Venice, too. If you can bear to drag yourself away, the staff can arrange hire cars for you to explore the island with, along with on-site spa treatments tempting you to simply stay put. Branco
Traditional Myconian architecture meets modernity at Branco, a boutique beach hotel in the seaside village of Platis Gialos. Whale music is swapped out for the sounds of actual waves in the spa-treatment cabin, and the shorefront is also the setting for yoga classes. The sea gets a starring role in most of the suites, too.
The breezy terrace is the perfect place to enjoy some super-fresh seafood, but the staff can also pick out secluded, romantic spots for private dinners. And for the ideal light lunch for a hot summer's day, there's a sushi menu on hand for orders that can be served straight to your sunlounger. If you're in need of heartier substance however, there are classic Greek dishes ready to come to the rescue, including a typical pastitsada pasta dish.

A more affordable option in an oligarchs’ playground, My Mykonos doesn’t skimp on style, joining its pricier counterparts in a celebration of rattan ceilings, hanging lamps, whitewashed walls and polished concrete. My Mykonos Hotel is a 10-minute walk into Mykonos Town for those in search of cobblestones, windmills and blue shutters (along with bars, restaurants and boutiques). And it’s also close to the port for anyone making the wise choice of a summer spent Greek island-hopping and arriving to Mykonos by ferry.
Grace Mykonos
Stacked up above the sandy shores of Agios Stefanos, Grace Mykonos is as elegant as its name suggests. Guests can expect all of the hallmarks of an indulgent hotel experience (yes, there’s a pillow menu), and the decor keeps up with classic Cycladic style: neutral tones and bright white walls, with some colourful artworks, too.
The prime spots by the Aegean-edge pool are (obviously) the cabanas, especially when it’s sundowner o’clock, but sea views are also delivered straight to the Jacuzzi in some rooms. And for anyone in need of more pampering, there’s a spa for manicures, body scrubs and facials.
Nomad Mykonos
Alcoves and archways form the backdrop of this hotel near Kalo Livadi Beach, which sticks to the island’s unofficial colour code of taupe, concrete and white. Each suite at Nomad has a terrace, enhanced by a private pool or hot tub, and much of the hotel was crafted by artisans from all over the Cyclades, including local carpenters and marble-working magicians.
Handily for anyone usually in need of a nap after a drink, the bar has a few hammocks to fight over – and, in keeping with the nomadic theme (but in no other way coming close to your average campsite), there’s a fire-pit, too.
Amyth of Mykonos
Steps from the village of Agios Stefano and consisting solely of suites, Amyth of Mykonos mixes a little taste of Tulum into its Myconian magic. The island’s favourite bohemian decor is alive and well, with wicker wall hangings, a neutrals-only palette and a liberal use of thatch (and not just on the beach parasols). There’s also plenty of plants, classical ceramics and artfully worn tan leather chairs.
The staff at the pool bar get creative with cocktails, the breakfasts are art forms and even the chips and dips around here are elevated.
Koukoumi Vegan Boutique Hotel
Possibly the only hotel we’ve come across with the word ‘vegan’ in its name, Koukoumi is a noble ambassador of the plant-based movement – and a great option for anyone who’d like to give veganism a try but needs a little inspiration first.
In fact, it’s the only vegan hotel in all of Greece, but even committed carnivores will enjoy the creative food on offer. The inland hotel, in the village of Ano Mera, also has a wellness and fitness programme as part of its mission to ensure its guests feel great.
The Wild by Interni
On a cliffside above the Aegean, the Wild by Interni is named after the fearless fishermen nicknamed ‘the Wild Ones’ who once stewarded the cove below. Mykonos may be a starry island now, but the hotel aims to recreate a simpler side of its past, when it was mostly just sleepy fishing villages.
There are 40 rooms, suites and villas overlooking the water, with some that have two bedrooms, private plunge pools and even their own dining room if you want to get fancy. The decor includes handcrafted lamps and floors, woven baskets and plenty of natural materials. Unsurprisingly, slow food is the order of the day at the restaurant, which uses both local produce and traditional techniques.
Santa Marina
Mykonos is one of the flashiest islands in Greece and it has the luxury hotels to prove it – one of its finest is Santa Marina, which has been an island institution since the Seventies.
The Ornos Bay retreat has expanded over the past few decades – the original estate, which included a chapel and windmill (this is Mykonos after all), now has villas set along the hillside. It’s also home to an Espa and 111Skin spa, two infinity pools, a private beach and various restaurants and bars to work your way through.
Kalesma
With a name that means ‘inviting’, Kalesma was always going to give its guests a warm welcome – which it does, and so much more. The recreated Myconian village leads down a hillside to Ornos Bay. As well as the constant coastal views, you’ll also be perfectly placed for both sunrise and sunset.
Each room has its own heated pool, along with a terrace that has sunloungers facing the Aegean, and a shower out on your patio. For when you’re (eventually) ready to leave, Mykonos Town is three kilometres away.
Myconian Ambassador
On Mykonos’s southern shores, Myconian Ambassador may be in a quieter part of the island, but if you want a party, you’ll only have to stroll over to Psarou to ogle the super-yachts or Paranga to dine at a lively local-approved taverna. It’s close to Scorpios beach club, too.
The concierge will be able to organise boat trips over to Delos and Rhenia, two far sleepier neighbouring islands – or simply traverse the few steps down to Platis Gialos beach, helpfully on the hotel’s doorstep.
