With the birth of Prince William and Kate Middleton's third child – Prince Louis Arthur Charles – on 23 April, the nation is celebrating the arrival of a new prince.
Prince George and Princess Charlotte's new sibling made his debut to the world as Kate left the doors of the Lindo Wing at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, London, and now the first official portraits of HRH Prince Louis of Cambridge has been unveiled.
Even before his arrival, there had been lots of speculation about his new sleeping environment, specifically what his nursery will look like and how it will be decorated. In regards to the décor, Louis' bedroom is said to be based around some of Beatrix Potter's most iconic characters, including Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddle-Duck and Mrs Tiggy Winkle, according to reports.
But what about the furniture? At the beginning of the year, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge revealed that they own some of Ikea’s ready-to-assemble furniture, and that they've used it in Prince George and Princess Charlotte's rooms.
'I'm proud that we can suit everybody,’ Marcus Engman, Ikea’s head of design said at the time, during the couple's visit to Stockholm, Sweden. 'That's what we want Ikea to be – for the many people of the world, both royalty and ordinary people.’
So who better to advise us on what Louis' nursery might be decked out with? We spoke to Agnieszka Lachowicz, sales leader for children’s products at Ikea UK and Ireland, who revealed to House Beautiful UK online what pieces of furniture and accessories would be ideal for a royal nursery.
