OG nineties supermodel, Linda Evangelista, has claimed that she has been 'brutally disfigured' by an incredibly rare side effect of a cosmetic surgery.
The 56-year-old took to Instagram to share a piece of text in which she alleged that she has been 'permanently deformed' by the procedure, the aim of which is to freeze layers of fat under your skin, thus destroying fat cells.
She wrote: 'To my followers who have wondered why I have not been working while my peers' careers have been thriving, the reason is that I was brutally disfigured by Zeltiq's CoolSculpting procedure, which did the opposite of what it promised.
'It increased, not decreased, my fat cells and left me permanently deformed even after undergoing two painful, unsuccessful, corrective surgeries. I have been left, as the media has described, "unrecognisable." '
She went on to claim that she has developed paradoxical adipose hyperplasia, which has 'destroyed her livelihood' and sent her into 'a cycle of deep depression.'
She is, she states, launching a lawsuit - assumedly against the cosmetic company - an action that she says she hopes will help her to 'move forward'.
'I would like to walk out my door with my head held high, despite not looking like myself any longer,' the note concluded.
The CoolSculpting site notes that side effects are possible after the proceure, including, in very rare cases, Paradoxical hyperplasia.
