The Best Hair-Accessory Trends For 2021 Are All Oversize - Just Wait Until You See Them

Jessica Harrington

Hair pulled back into a ponytail with an average hair tie: effortless and casual. Hair pulled back into a ponytail with a jumbo scrunchie or huge rhinestone clips: exciting and dynamic. Both are great, but when you can, why not go the extra mile?

Ever since headbands, claw clips, scrunchies, and other statement clips made their triumphant return a few years ago, the latest hair-accessory trends have been breathing new life into our tried-and-true styles - and luckily, that isn't slowing down in 2021.

"Last year, it was the 'year of less' when it came to hair - we washed it less, colored it less, used less heat, and generally wanted to just do less with our hair," Laura Polko, celebrity hairstylist and Scunci accessory ambassador, told POPSUGAR. "Because of that, we got more creative with our accessories and experimented with new styles that were low maintenance but gave high payoff."

In 2021, we'll see more of the same styles, except everything is getting supersized. "People are eager to add more color and adornment into their beauty routine but in a simple and easy way, which is what hair accessories offer," said Nate Rosenkranz, New York City-based hairstylist and Goody ambassador. "They are looking for these small yet impactful ways to express their creativity."
