In pictures: Gyms and swimming pools reopen after lockdown

Indoor gyms, swimming pools and other sports facilities reopened across England as part of the latest easing of coronavirus lockdown measures.

Thousands of people across the country took advantage of being able to train again on Saturday.

They had been unable to go for a workout or swim inside a leisure centre since the restrictions were put in place in March.

Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden announced earlier this month that facilities would be able to reopen, with strict hygiene and social distancing, after a four-month closure.

Pictures from across England showed people getting back into the swing of things at leisure centres but this time they were taking precautions to stop the spread of COVID-19.

They included maintaining social distancing, using hand sanitiser and cleaning equipment.
