John Lewis has just revealed six beautiful Christmas decorating trends for 2022 — and they celebrate some of our favourite festive traditions.

"This year's Christmas themes are a celebration of local living, highlighting the importance of community in towns and villages and the shared social moments of daily life though meeting, greeting and eating," Lisa Cherry,
Lead Christmas Buyer at John Lewis & Partners, says.

"They pay homage to long-held traditions of markets, fairgrounds and winter festivals, as well as the chance to gather indoors with fun, family activities like decorating the home, trimming the tree and entertaining guests. These themes are rooted in happiness and the small moments that make a special Christmas, which makes our job so exciting."

Whatever your style for the festive season, these collections offer something for all. But do keep in mind which ones are more environmentally-friendly. This Christmas, we should be moving away from glitter and plastic decorations and towards wooden, long-lasting ones. Whatever you choose, make sure you look after your decorations so you can use them for as long as possible.

On that note, here are the six collections to have on your radar for this year...

Inspired by a family stroll around a winter fayre, this beautiful trend features a frosted colour palette, high-shine metallics and highlights of traditional festive red. From walking around market stalls to riding fairground rides, you'll find decorations that will transport you to your favourite Christmas market. Brighten up your home with this blush pink Christmas trend. "Wildlife is abundant, with festive robins, jolly hedgehogs and crafty foxes. The rich colour palette, with copper highlights, reflects the lush growth of the garden and green spaces."

Loud, bright, bold and excitingly fun: this trend is Christmas like you've never seen it before. Reflecting the glitz and glamour of a festive night out, Night Life is highly decorative. Ornaments include musical instruments, ballerinas, cocktails and dazzling glitter balls.

John Lewis say: "This theme is inspired by Santa's workshop and the fabulous fantasy toy shops of a child's imagination. Here, anything goes with decorations representing all the wonderful toys Santa and his elves are making. The colour palette is joyful, and bright - all the colours of the rainbow."
