PICS: Peek into Soneva's Eco-Luxe Water Villas in The Maldives
Luxury eco-resort operator, Soneva, recently announced a collection of eight overwater retreats at its Fushi property in The Maldives. Scheduled to open to guests around April 2020, the two- and three-bedroom villas vary between 5,630 sqft and 8,181 sqft in area. Their design and location are the result of a comprehensive environmental assessment aimed at safeguarding the region's ecosystems.
Created by Soneva's in-house team of designers and craftspeople, the villas are built to blend into the surroundings. Design elements like floor-to-ceiling windows offer a visual connection between the interiors and tranquil seascape; while features like water slides and retractable ceilings allow residents to physically engage with the great outdoors. The material palette includes sustainable materials such as plantation-grown wood, recycled wood and glass, and driftwood. The cotton furnishings, mainly sourced from Sri Lanka, are handwoven by the country’s local women.
The over-water retreats are modelled along the lines of those at the neighbouring Soneva Jani resort. A range of over-water and island villas at Soneva Jani and Soneva Fushi are available for sale at www.sonevavillaownership.com. Take a look at one such three-bedroom villa.
