9 of the wealthiest athletes at the Pyeongchang Olympic Winter Games

Between medal bonuses, sponsorship deals and endorsements, some Olympic athletes make a pretty sweet living performing the sport they love.

For many athletes, their reality is working other jobs to make ends meet, like American curler Nina Roth who works as a registered nurse in addition to her responsibilities as an athlete.

But for the Olympians in this list, they’ve got the wherewithal to focus on their sport.

GoBankingRates compared athletes’ estimated net worth, and found these are nine of the estimated richest athletes competing in the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics.

Notice a surprising number of Americans on the list? The U.S. government doesn’t contribute to the U.S. Olympic Committee, so athletes are driven to get sponsored, which can mean huge paydays for some, and unfortunately, no money for others.
