UPDATE 1-Airbus says deliveries up 13% in April, reaffirms A350F timeline

Airbus delivered 61 aircraft in April, up 13% from the same month of 2023, bringing deliveries so far this year to 203, the European planemaker said on Tuesday. An unidentified airline ordered 51 A321neo jets during the month and British Airways owner IAG reshuffled five narrow-body planes within its group, Airbus monthly data showed. Airbus meanwhile said there was no change in its target for entry to service of the A350 Freighter after a major leasing company questioned the development timeline.

UPDATE 2-Macron seeks to charm China's Xi Jinping into trade concessions in Pyrenees jaunt

F rench President Emmanuel Macron welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping to the Pyrenees mountains on Tuesday on the second day of a trip during which Xi showed little sign of being ready to offer major concessions on trade or foreign policy. Advisers to the French president described the Pyrenees trip as breaking with protocol for a chance for one-on-one chats with Xi, without scores of aides, in mountains dear to Macron as the birthplace of his maternal grandmother. One of Macron's main objectives is to convince Xi to reduce the trade imbalance between the two regions, with better access for European firms in China and fewer subsidies for Chinese exporters.

Macron seeks to charm Xi into trade concessions in Pyrenees jaunt

French President Emmanuel Macron welcomes Chinese President Xi Jinping in the Pyrenees mountains on Tuesday, for the second day of a trip during which Xi showed little sign of being ready to offer major concessions on trade or foreign policy. Macron, who will greet Xi at the Tarbes-Lourdes Pyrenees airport at around 11:40 a.m. (0940 GMT), will take him to have lunch in the mountains dear to him as the birthplace of his maternal grandmother. Advisers to the French president described this as breaking with protocol for a chance for one-on-one direct chats with Xi, without scores of aide on either side.
