    CORRECTED-FOCUS-Paris Olympics on track to hit NBC ad sales record after pandemic

    As the July opening ceremony for the 2024 Paris Olympics draws closer, U.S. broadcaster NBCUniversal is seeing renewed interest from major corporate sponsors in the premier global sporting event as fans are expected to fill Olympic stadiums for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic. Comcast-owned NBCU said on Tuesday it has sold $1.2 billion in advertising for the Paris games and is on track to achieve a new sales record in Olympic history. Ad spending from International Olympic Committee (IOC) sponsors is currently up 18% from the previous summer Olympics in Tokyo that took place in 2021, said Dan Lovinger, president of Olympic and Paralympic sales at NBCU, in an interview.

    Japan's Bridgestone exits Russia with asset sale to serial buyer S8 Capital

    Bridgestone, present in Russia since 1998, decided in March 2022 to suspend all manufacturing activities and freeze new investments in Russia following the Moscow's invasion of Ukraine, a step taken by many other foreign companies. Tokyo-based Bridgestone, which cited uncertainty and ongoing supply issues when it started looking for a buyer in 2022, said its around 1,000 employees in Russia would transfer to S8 Capital.

    Motor racing-Bridgestone to supply tyres to Formula E, Hankook to WRC

    Bridgestone will take over from Hankook as the sole supplier of tyres to the all-electric Formula E world championship from 2026, the governing FIA said on Wednesday. The move will be the first time the Japanese manufacturer has supplied a single-seater world championship since leaving Formula One at the end of 2010. South Korea's Hankook will become the official supplier of the world rally championship, replacing Pirelli, on a three-year contract from 2025.
