Looks like another down day for gold and silver. I don't like the trend.

Hi Private. How's your Bitcoin doing?

Gold and silver simply cannot hold a bid. Gold may test 1800 or even lower. As for silver, I have no idea. Bah.

Hi Ultra. How in the world did you come up with that idea that I'm mad at you? Are you serious? Why should I be made at you when I have been proven right with the pin action of Centerra. Lol. As I have stated in numerous posts, I sold out of my final position in Centerra a tear ago. I had been selling prior to debacle but still had some left when the K-krooks took over the Kumtor mine. So frankly, I don't really care about Centerra except to provide an alternative opinion as to Centerra's SP. Lol.

How far will Jay Powell raise short term interest rates? Some have suggested that the 10 year treasury note could be higher than 4% in the near future.

A few days ago, a Kitco headline asked the question concerning the price of gold in 5 years: 1300 or 4000?

Granted I got my MBA 1000 years ago, nit I still seem to remember that gold was a hedge against inflation.
Can anyone here please explain to me that with the highest inflation rate in umpteen years and the promise of more to come, who gold is taking a dump?

Hedge funds are continuing their bearish bets on gold according to a Kitco report.

In a recent note by UBS, it wrote that higher interest rates will cause the price of silver lower.

In a recent note by RBC Capital Markets, it wrote gold will be facing significant headwinds in the upcoming months due higher interest rates. In the September quarter; gold could be as low as 1563. In the December quarter; RBC said gold could decline to 1516.

Hi gatr. So I did my homework and for the most part, many financial analysts have said there is no correlation between the price of gold and interest rates. There were one or two dissenters to that thesis. Then I started to reviewing historical charts of gold and interest rates. During 1980-1981, interest rates soared and the price of gold declined significantly. Now I'm not suggesting the price of gold will always respond to every change in interest rates; but there have been some historical events of extreme disruption when the correlation between the two has been evident. To say there has never been any correlation between the two defies logic.

Gold has not done well for a number of reasons. In previous posts, I have mentioned a few. Another one is the continuing effects of Covid19. For example, in China where we have seen draconian lockdowns by the Chinese government, gold sales have plummeted. The situation in India, Pakistan, and other Asian countries hasn't been any better. In order to pay for hospitalizations and other medical care, thousands of individuals have been forced sell gold and jewelry. Although there have been reports of brisk gold purchases in India; I'm not that positive.

Centerra has taken another option from Kootenay Resources the Copley Property. They already optioned the 2 X Fred Property from Kootenay. Both properties are on the Nechako Plateau in Central British Columbia. Northern Vertex had optioned this property before in 2011. Trying to find out why that option expired. Seems like Centerra is doing a lot of options.
