Airbus Deliveries Lag Behind Prepandemic Historical Averages
Airbus deliveries so far this year are up 4.9% from where they were at this point in 2023 but the company delivered 10 fewer planes in May than in the same month last year, Berenberg analysts said in a research note. Airbus has reached 32% of its guidance target which lags behind its 38% historical 10-year prepandemic average, the analysts said.

Airbus deliveries fall 16% in May
Airbus delivered 53 aircraft in May, down 16% from the same month last year and bringing the number of airplanes handed over to customers since Jan. 1 to 256, the planemaker said on Thursday. It is targeting 800 deliveries for the year. Reuters reported on Monday that Airbus, which has headquarters in France, had delivered around 50 aircraft in May. Industry sources said it had been targeting closer to 60 deliveries for the month.

Wizz Air in process of picking engine provider for 177 Airbus jets on order
European budget carrier Wizz Air is in the process of selecting an engine manufacturer for 177 of the narrowbody Airbus jets it has on order, the airline's CEO told Reuters on Thursday. The company, which operates an all-Airbus fleet, has two options - its current supplier Pratt & Whitney, whose engines are facing issues worldwide forcing airlines to ground planes, and competitor CFM, a joint venture between General Electric (GE) and France's Safran. "We are right now in the process of tendering it (the engine order)," CEO Jozsef Varadi said during an interview on the sidelines of the CAPA India aviation summit in New Delhi.
