Why the drop today? Not because of poor revenue or profit. Did they announce a dividend or major capital investment?

Maersk reported Q2 results. Net income of $8.6B on revenues of $21.7B for a profit margin of 39.6%!

    Its market cap is $22.6B, its annualized earnings are $34.4B = 4 * $8.6B, for a P/E of 0.65 = 22.6/34.4! Yes, 0.65.

Share repurchases were $550M in Q2 or, annualized, about 10% of market cap.

I expect a big special dividend.

A dominant player in a huge industry. 16% dividend, 2.3 P/E, conservative cash management and diversification. I don't know where one could go wrong here.

    MR:
YOUR PESSIMISM IS UNLIKELY TO BE REALIZED.
THIS MANAGEMENT IS SMART TO HAVE MADE ACQUISITIONS FOR CASH,-PASSING-OVER DEBT FINANCING.
THE ACQUISITIONS CAN BE STRENGTHENED AND DEPENDING UPON MARKET CONDITIONS,CAN BE
SPUN-OFF AS TRACKING STOCKS RELEASING ONLY A SMALL PERCENTAGE OF THEIR CAPITALIZATION.
ANOTHER SPECIAL DIVIDEND LATER IN THE YEAR SHOULD BE CONSIDERED BY MANAGEMENT.

    Looks
At the charts. Pre Covid and world wide supply chain mess it was 4K. Then the shipping industry literally created the vast majority NIF our inflation problems by increasing the cost to move goods 10x without any real cost increases. Total container volume up 5
Percent , total profits up 300 percent. Anything that goes up that fast based on non trend or actual changes will drop back to the original levels when the trend returns not normal. Now that this economic cycle is entering the next phase capacity is opening up and shipping rates are dropping just as fast as they went up.
This stock will revert back to 5k levels over the next 3 quarters. Short positions abound.

I seriously don't understand why investors aren't lined up to buy this stock: 12.7% dividend, 2.50 P/E, worldwide presence in an essential industry, great vertical integration, and a clear competence in their core business.

This stock is a screaming buy at less than 6 times annual earnings! Earnings will double going forward due to the supply chain mess. All those full containers waiting to offload makes a huge squeeze on future container rates. Am I the only one who sees this?

I doubled my humble position today. Maersk has got to be the best value in the entire market right now. Selling at just over 4 times earnings? Are you kidding me? I just wish I had bigger truck to load!

This stock would go 20+ by the end of the year. The demand continues to rise, an absolute BUY.

Do you know what is ex-dividend date (as I learnt that dividend will be paid on 18th of March 2022)? When I had to own the shares in order to get the dividend?
