Well as a Dane having followed the company intensly for 35 years, I can only say that it is one of the most conservative companies around, second to no debt, and I am confident that they will invest the 20-25 billion USD (after 20 billion usd paid out in dividends 21+22 (est 5000 dkk pr share for 22), that they have made these last 2 years . Todays P/E of 1.25 should be a strong purchase signal in my mind, even if they are heading back towards a pre corona scenario...they will still be a market leader loaded with cash to invest ..

what is the difference (besides price) between AMKBY and AMKBF?
  • N

Since inception AMKBY is up ~17% while the Maersk shares trading on the Copenhagen exchange are up ~85% over the same period. AMKBY does not accurately track the performance of the official Maersk shares at all.

I don’t know if this is typical of unsponsored adr shares or what the particular issue is here but if you’re going to buy Maersk shares I would recommend finding a way to buy the actual shares and not the adr shares. If that proves impossible maybe buy a competitor without this issue (ZIM) or a shipping etf like BOAT to get more diverse exposure to the sector.

More questions: It would seem that this stock as traded in the United States is not a sponsored stock. With that understanding, what financial institution holds the actual shares listed in Denmark and who distributes the dividends when they are paid? Some financial firm must be doing this. Also, when does the board meet to determine the next dividend payment? Does AMKBY pay a dividend quarterly, semiannually or annually? Again, may I say that it's amazing for a company seemingly of this quality with excellent earnings selling for such a low price. It's been my experience going back many years that when an investment seems to be too good to be true, it usually turns out badly. Let's hope this time it's different. Please allow me to digress for a moment. In the past year or so, some investors, using that term loosely, have piled into companies that were in deep trouble, driving the stock prices to unbelievable heights. Why don't they pile into this company, seemingly a strong company selling at such a low price?

Recently, I have taken a large position, at least for me, in this stock, AMKBY, without really knowing as much as I should about the company. Yes, I know it's the largest international shipping company in the world and is an integrated company offering all types of services to its clients. Since buying it, however, I have learned that I have bought an unsponsored stock trading off the pink sheet. Is that right? What is this exactly? Would someone explain this to me in some detail, much as a business professor would.? It's difficult to understand how an international company like this with such a low P/E ratio and a large dividend payout could be selling at this price. I know some of you will be inclined to castigate me for my lack of knowledge before making this investment but nothing will be gained by that. Just help me understand the details around what I've bought. Thanks for your assistance.

YOUR PURCHASE OF AMKBY SHARES SHOULD EARN YOU INCOME AND CAPITAL GAINS.THIS COMPANY IS WHAT USED TO BE REFERRED-TO AS A CONGENERIC COMPANY BUT THE TERMINOLOGY IS NO LONGER IN VOGUE.IT APPEARS TO ME THAT
AMKBY HAS UTILIZED ITS HUGE PROFITS IN A VERY SMART WAY BY INVESTING IN LOGISTICS COMPANIES FOR CASH AND ABSENT
OF DEBT.THE LOW VALUATION IS MOST LIKELY DUE TO THE ERRONEOUS BELIEF THAT THE CURRENT HIGH RETURNS WILL NOT
CARRY INTO THE FUTURE QUARTERS AND THE PROFITS WILL SLUMP INTO HISTORIC NUMBERS. MAYBE,SO ! HOWEVER,THIS
MANAGEMENT DESERVES THE BENEFIT OF ANY DOUBTS. NEGATIVE REMARKS ON THIS MESSAGE BOARD SHOULD NOT PRECLUDE
SHARE PURCHASES ON PULLBACKS LIKE THE ONE EXPERIENCED TODAY (AUGUST 22ND). TODAY’S CLOSING PRICE WAS $12.78.

Why the drop today? Not because of poor revenue or profit. Did they announce a dividend or major capital investment?

Maersk reported Q2 results. Net income of $8.6B on revenues of $21.7B for a profit margin of 39.6%!

    Its market cap is $22.6B, its annualized earnings are $34.4B = 4 * $8.6B, for a P/E of 0.65 = 22.6/34.4! Yes, 0.65.

Share repurchases were $550M in Q2 or, annualized, about 10% of market cap.

I expect a big special dividend.

A dominant player in a huge industry. 16% dividend, 2.3 P/E, conservative cash management and diversification. I don't know where one could go wrong here.

Anyone know why the otc adr shares amkby have so materially underperformed the shares trading in Copenhagen? Was thinking of buying some but then I saw the massive difference in performance over the past decade. Thanks in advance!

    MR:
YOUR PESSIMISM IS UNLIKELY TO BE REALIZED.
THIS MANAGEMENT IS SMART TO HAVE MADE ACQUISITIONS FOR CASH,-PASSING-OVER DEBT FINANCING.
THE ACQUISITIONS CAN BE STRENGTHENED AND DEPENDING UPON MARKET CONDITIONS,CAN BE
SPUN-OFF AS TRACKING STOCKS RELEASING ONLY A SMALL PERCENTAGE OF THEIR CAPITALIZATION.
ANOTHER SPECIAL DIVIDEND LATER IN THE YEAR SHOULD BE CONSIDERED BY MANAGEMENT.

This stock is a screaming buy at less than 6 times annual earnings! Earnings will double going forward due to the supply chain mess. All those full containers waiting to offload makes a huge squeeze on future container rates. Am I the only one who sees this?

I seriously don't understand why investors aren't lined up to buy this stock: 12.7% dividend, 2.50 P/E, worldwide presence in an essential industry, great vertical integration, and a clear competence in their core business.
