You get dividend on Nov 2nd if have stock by 10/28/22........I am not sure it's safe to buy now since it keeps going down, but they will be paying and buying shares in like a 1.2 months.

Interest rate going up should benefit banks specially banks like SAN, am I missing something ?

DB is up like 4.6%........SAN gets like 29% of Profits from Europe so I don't see how it gets hurt much from European recession and Spain bank tax. This stock has fallen too much here.

The Bank is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Madrid-based Banco Santander, S.A. (NYSE: SAN) - one of the most respected banking groups in the world with 157 million customers in the U.S., Europe, and Latin America.
When I read this I wonder do mrs botin has different priorities, some time she is Watching tennis sometime she wants green economy but last time when she paid attention to banks earnings & stock price for which she is a chairman for.

SAN is undervalued? absolutely but management is not interested in assuring shareholders instead busy promoting Tennis, Green energy & so on ,Every company should have SR policy but shouldn’t be full time agenda. Mrs Botin has taken up social responsibility as full time agenda then operating Bank & assuring shareholders.
They need reverse split or huge buy back plus Black & white on their balance sheet.

SAN announced great share buy back of close to 1 billion. With the dividend, it can generate 6 to 7% while you wait. It is so undervalued among the top tier banks. Th interest rate increase is positive with yield widen.

San is going back to $5 euro would gain double digit against USD in next 15-18 months.
Get in to Europe while it’s cheap.
Future looks bright for euro zone.

If 15% of SAN 2021 Net Interest Income came from Spain, then how much Tax is 5% of that? Let's see who can solve 4th grade math? The fact that they put that Tax on these banks during a war says it all. The stock shouldn't be down this much when just 15% of total Net Interest comes from Spain. Why do they have headquarters there? I guess it has to do with the people speaking Spanish like those running it.

Bought some more on the dip today. IMO the quarter was good - plenty of positives. Also, at a book value of 0.45 this is incredibly cheap. Will enjoy my 4.46% dividend at a 20% payout ratio. Lots of room to run from here.

Worse run major bank in the world. Botin family runs it like a little corner bank - no corporate business - no capital markets- and so conservative they rely on interest income from deposits they still have real estate from 2008 crash on their books ….
