Gas is expensive. Car rentals are expensive. Food pricing going up. I wouldn't travel or rent a car with everything eating into my paycheck.

Here's the deal. They will hold it up here for several days so big players can unload and make retail think it's holding up. When they're out, the rug will be pulled.

I love how so many think I will sell my short at a loss. paying the interest is cheap why they all pile in. Plus I can dollar cost avg upward to make more when the insanity ends. a normal PE of 22-25 hits the wall once the retail investor is fully locked in the greed madness without firm footing for the company. I played this stock both ways long at 17-70 started profit taking at 55. and short 84-150 got 10 more every 2 dollars up. started with a small position of 10 shares now sitting on 300 plus shares short. this year's return 11k from this stock going up and down.

Will someone - ANYONE - suggest what has changed long-term to justify a 4x valuation compared to pre-Covid? I'll take ANY answer, no matter how flimsy LOL. We all know that right now rental car prices are way higher due to various Covid-driven trends, including reduced fleet sizes at car rental companies but nobody expect this distortion to last forever. We also know CAR benefited greatly from selling some of its fleet at higher used car prices - again 100% a one-time event.

looking at Kayak and booking a rental car this weekend in LAX isn't out of the world pricing, pretty much normal...
LAX around $45-50 a day this is the record profits?

TSA gate bookings are still 70-80% of pre covid?
    https://www.tsa.gov/coronavirus/passenger-throughput?mod=article_inline

So they sold inventory to reduce overhead, and now highest profit ever? I am calling some cooking the books for sure. No way 3x pre covid? So another AMC, GME, TSLA. Just the big money machine for big hedge funds to screw anyone who put money in on selling short. It's an amazing way for CAR to make a ton of cash for doing nothing, pump and dump. Nothing really to compare in this market segment other than bankrupt Hertz which is following suit and going crazy. Same but worse issues of CAR, more debt, more overhead.. and well 70%-80% business if you follow the TSA gate numbers, or listen to them tell you how business is super and higher than ever.

Dig into the financials and fundamentals of Avis Budget, then find a more insane chart on the market right now.

    There isn't.

The current stock price and valuation carried by this company are both brazen and shameless.

Pump in plain sight. Corruption isn't even bothered to be hidden anymore.

Cut its price & market cap in half (75$/5 billions) and there's still a strong argument to be made that Avis Budget is grossly overvalued. God help us all.

To All that can't figure the justification of this stock price I will explain. Car is basically a zombie company with 17BL in debt. There is no hope in ever paying this debt down. It has a book value of 1.31 as per yahoo. This market and the rest of the 30% zombie companies are traded by the FED. You say well that is illegal what happened to Powell and Kaplan nothing. This mkt is the biggest the fraud in the history of mankind what you think you know about valuations and what reality are 2 different things. Car goes higher the market goes higher. You little retail traders have 0 chance against the big banks and the biggest of all the FED. Goodluck all in your trading.
I doubt this will ever get posted but I tried.

SRS Investment Management is likely unloading their position - acquired at around 30-35 a share - as evidenced by option exercise in September. They are the biggest insider.

Morgan Stanley: $CAR Downgrade Equal Weight ➝ Underweight $85.00 ➝ $110.00. I think it is only the beginning of downgrades. Pumping analysis, and then dumping analysis.
