Halloween Kills’ Grabs Best Horror & R-Rated Opening Records During Pandemic With $50.4M

But, hey, Wall Street, it’s time to celebrate: This is the third box office weekend in a row where all films grossed over $100M, this frame racking up an estimated $110M. The box office is coming back. The top three movies —Halloween Kills, No Time to Die, and Venom: Let There Be Carnage– are racking up $15M+ each, a scenario we haven’t had since January 2020

Bond is going to do $60m in the US from Thurs-Mon. That’s in line with the studio estimates of $55-$60m. However, the narrative being spun by our yahoo pals is that it was a major disappointment and another sign that theaters will never compete with streaming. CNK not only has to battle the huge short interest but also the media’s one-sided “theaters are doomed” messaging. It’s going to be a bumpy ride. I’m still long on CNK. I’ve got hbo max but I’ll be seeing Dune on the big screen.

Fandango is reporting that the advance ticket sales for Daniel Craig’s swan song as 007 are already outstripping Universal’s F9 and Sony’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and it’s on target to become the online ticket seller’s best ever for a Bond movie.

When a friend told me he was getting at least one solid pick every week from a certain program I was skeptical. Anyway, I checked out (http://financialdeals.tech) and haven’t looked back since. Join them.

October is going to be an awesome month at the box office. Covid cases are declining rapidly, down 20% from their peeks 2 wks ago, kids are back in school, pro baseball and football plus college stadiums are packed. Concern of being close at the theater is a non-issue these days.

We have Venom Oct 1st as a theatrical exclusive and the original had done $800M globally, plus Adam's Family will draw a crowd. Then on Oct 8th we have the James Bond "No Time to Die" which will be a smashing success, followed by Halloween for the horror movie crowd who have been waiting for a new release. These will run all month, and Oct will be off the charts.

My firm belief, is with Covid on the sharp decline, and all of the societal factors, once October is behind us, movies will be back to normal. Looking forward to mid-20's in October or Nov.

Short interest increased again per 9/15 update. About 24M shares. Russell 2000 which CNK is part of also looks like it could be trying to breakout. Should be helpful if it happens.

Friday was a MONSTER day at the box office, with Venom: Let There Be Carnage pulling in $37,250,000 in one night alone. WOW !!! The world should be on notice that big box office weekends are back. This weekend will be huge, and the new Bond film next weekend will drive significantly more as well as it appeals to a slightly different audience. Huge numbers going forward!

No Time to Die has done $119M this past weekend, as it was released Internationally, and it debuts in the US next weekend. Plus, there will be a Bond feature as a part of Good Morning America everyday this week helping hype the US release. Then Venom has had a 3 day weekend total of $104M and counting. October is going to be a MONSTER month and I wouldn't be surprised if we see $25 this month!
