Very tempting, the RSI had been pegged at 70 for a couple of the last trading days.

Rock solid performance here with CP, beautiful chart. Sold my BNSF (Berkshire Hathaway) shares. This is a far superior stock to own period. CP > BRK-B.

Tunnels are strategic assets, and a good thing to own.

CP just bought one back, after having sold a large chunk of its ownership interest in it 11 years ago. A critical asset for cross border trade, and for growing .

The valuation didn't change that much in those intervening 11 years, based on the transaction prices per percentage of ownership ----$4.5mm then vs. $5.0 mm now ----- and this deal also comes with 100% control of the asset.

As long as grain remains busy and CP keeps buying their own shares it should maintain it's highs.

If you’re not in, now is the time. Volumes are hitting record highs and the intermodal yards are running at Max capacity, the operation is so lean and so busy it’s insane.

Corporate politics is a very serious, costly, debilitating farce. Almost as bad as professional politics. Hunter Harrison was once a rising operations star at BN(SF)...he was acquired as part of BN's takeover of the Frisco railway in 1980. But Harrison was blunt, gruff and unpolished...so the boardroom suits at the BN country club weren't going to promote him up the chain, no mater how good a railroader he was. So when opportunity came, he left. To Illinois Central...the beginning of his climb to legendary status. And BNSF plodded on, was eventually taken private for a pittance, and has never embraced, or even even acknowledged, the genius of PSR to this day. Because to do so would "tread on toes" in BNSF's glorious history. Those guys who traded Wayne Gretzky... for nothing.Politics. Utter #$%$

File this pone under "Unlimited access to money can really poison the well".

Warren Buffett has chosen Katie Farmer as BNSF's new CEO. She is the former Executive COO under the last two CEOs, neither of whom embraced or even acknowledged PSR as the best and most efficient use of capital....AND the model that would facilitate the highest-service and competitive shipping strategy.

Matt Rose was no dummy. Buffett's bottomless capital was too tempting a prize to pass up, so he got the board to accept the Buffett's (paltry) buyout offer. They utterly screwed the clueless BNSF shareholders, but did very well for themselves.

And BNSF immediately went on a capital investment bender, the biggest ticket item being the twinning its mainline tracks. An expensive, easy, foolproof way to increase capacity. For Rose, it meant no weekends, no long days, and no stress.

Harrison would have done the exact opposite, and would have loved every Saturday he got to do it.
But now its Katie Farmer's gold-plated career capper. No PSR...no heavy lifting...no weekends.
    Thanks, Warren.

Dec. 4: "Earlier today, Teck announced, starting in April 2021 , it would begin moving a higher volume of coal with Canadian National via the interchange with CP at Kamloops, B.C. to the west coast...."
    ----------------------------
Back story to this announcement: This marks the end to a 10-year haulage agreement that Fred Green entered into with Teck on his CEO deathbed in 2011.
In a "wink-wink" deal, Teck got an egregiously sweet 10-year deal to haul coal in return for coming out in wildly positive support of current management in the proxy war with Ackman.
It was a money-losing, capacity-obligating, selfish tactic by an entrenched management that had no scruples, no respect for shareholders, and no defense. They lost in a landslide anyway, but CP was obligated to honour the contract.

Getting out of this contract is the final goodbye to Fred Green, John Cleghorn, and all their country-club cronies.
