    Mondi drags on FTSE, Provident Financial sinks

    British shares ended the session slightly down on Wednesday after results from paper and packaging firm Mondi disappointed and sub-prime lender Provident Financial sank after a downgrade from Barclays.     Dunelm, which sells cushions, bedding and kitchen equipment, said revenue for the 13 weeks to Sept. 30 rose 24.8 percent to 247.9 million pounds ($327.15 million). Sales at its stores open for over a year rose 9.3 percent.     British retailer Dunelm Group Plc (LSE: DNLM.L - news) said the market for homewares continues to weaken as it reported a 2.2 percent fall in total comparable sales for the third quarter.     British homewares retailer Dunelm Group (LSE: DNLM.L - news) Plc said half-year pretax profit fell 26 percent, hurt by a weaker market and short-term disruption to the supply chain at its recently opened distribution centre in Stoke. Dunelm, which sells items including bedding, curtains and furniture, warned that it would increase prices on a number of products in the coming months to offset the impact of a weak pound. Dunelm operates 161 stores, of which 157 are out-of-town superstores and the other four located on high streets.
