It has served me well. As a regulated utility, as long as the regulator is fair, they can charge reasonable rates it keeps delivering a steadily growing dividend. Longer term, they've got a major transition ahead, not without significant execution risk, to achieve a carbon net neutral target by 2050. This is the way the world is going and a utility worth its salt needs to needs to keep up here. Whats is exctiting are the new improved technologies emerging for a company like DUK to harness. // DUK always seems a little undervalued, to see it $110 - 115 would not be a stretch at all.

think they will ever pay a 5% divi?

So we are seeing a huge move to electric vehicles. Utilities all over will be a stable income generator. electricity for everything

Utilities will become what the oil companies were in their hay day. Energy for everything and everyone.

Hey you Dudes, is holding Duke since 1971 enough for a long-term investment? The smart move is to DRIP it, and watch it compound within the confines of the theory and practical aspects of compound interest and the time value of money. Allocate it as your "safe" money, relax, turn elsewhere, and watch it grow. Get the big picture, man, the big picture!

Looks like rotation to safety $PETS ( no debt dividend payer up), $DUK up, $BRK up. Tesla down another 5%. Maybe there is a market finally.

Good long term investment perhaps. Maybe once electric cars take off (if they do*) then duke will be a good buy.

The only hold back for me from investing more into Duke, is the pirates of Elliot management. They claim to be "activist investors", which in itself is not a great idea, it only appears to be a thinly veiled disguise to brake up duke, and slash share holder dividends while putting all that cash into their wallets and eventually dumping Duke's carcass along with shareholdes on the side of the road.
Resist the cancer confronting you Duke!

The yield isn't earth shattering, but, to me, it's a steady climber and I'm happy to have it in my dividend paying portfolio. I will definitely be increasing my position on this one!

Wow guys I have to say this stock chat has to be the most well mannered group of individuals I have seen on Yahoo finance, even when you disagree you do it with class. This to me is a reflection of the seasoned intellectual investors that put their money in DUK. I'm happy to join you guys.

i have been raking in this dividend for over 10 years. i see no reason to change now. i will keep holding and collecting

Everybody keeps wanting electricity and my shares keep earning dividends. The big investments into green energy infrastructure should add value going forward. Seems like a good value stock to me.
  • D
Just announced a dividend increase to $.98 per share. My records show that I received a dividend of $.985 the past year. This would be a DEcrease in dividends. Am I correct?
  • M
No matter what’s the situation is: Energy and utility companies always make money. Duke has Lots more improvements going from 2021 to 2030. Stable long term stock with Good dividend. Seeing over $100 in couple month and at least above $200 by 2025

Recently etired investor (72) fairly new to the game but learned a lot over the last two years. Looking at DUK, I like the dividend and the current PPS looks good value. The investment in renewables and what I can gather of the overall social philosophy both look like an intelligently run company but it's about the cash ain't it.

What say you folks who have held a position in DUK for a few years at least? Is it a good buy in utilities?
  • R
Utilities are being hammered due to rotation into riskier assets. Be patient, and if possible buy additional shares
