Ryanair has won a victory in a long-running battle with online travel agent eDreams, whose bid to force it to open up ticket sales was blocked by competition authorities.
Spanish online travel booking company eDreams ODIGEO said on Thursday it turned to profit in 2023 as its subscription programme helped it fully recover from three years of losses due to pandemic-linked restrictions. The Barcelona-based firm, whose fiscal year ends in March, reported a net profit of 32.4 million euros ($34.96 million) compared with a loss of 43.3 million euros in the preceding year.
The firm registered a 574% increase in travel searches to Switzerland for May 2025, when the Alpine country will host the next edition of the musical event. However, the exact date and the Swiss city where Eurovision will take place are not yet known. Eurovision fever had already boosted travel searches for the Swedish coastal city of Malmo by 176% between September 2023 and April 2024, the travel firm said last month.
