Although lower commodity prices and decreased production are likely to have hurt Equinor's (EQNR) Q1 earnings, higher demand for renewable energy might have nullified the negative partially.
OSLO (Reuters) -Equinor's Hammerfest LNG plant in Arctic northern Norway was evacuated on Tuesday because of a gas leak during maintenance and will remain offline until Friday at least, the company said. Production at Europe's largest LNG export facility had been halted at the time for the ongoing maintenance work, the company said. In a market message posted on Tuesday afternoon, Equinor said that Hammerfest LNG will be offline until 1200 local time (1000 GMT) on April 26, citing a gas turbine failure.
OSLO (Reuters) -Investors have filed a resolution at Norwegian oil company Equinor, majority owned by the government, to bring its strategy and capital spending into line with the Paris Agreement on climate. The move is the latest in the current annual general meeting season after several oil and gas companies scaled back climate ambitions in the face of an energy crisis and high prices. The Equinor resolution also underlines Norway's dual position as a major oil and gas exporter that wants to continue producing fossil fuels while at the same time being active diplomatically to cut global greenhouse gas emissions.
