The Justice Department and several states are expected to file a lawsuit as soon as Thursday against Live Nation Inc, citing alleged antitrust violations at least in part due to the market dominance of the company’s Ticketmaster unit, a person briefed on the planned legal action said.
The Justice Department has been investigating Ticketmaster's domination of concert ticket sales, sources have previously told Reuters. Concert fans and politicians for years have called for a re-examination of the Live Nation-Ticketmaster merger in 2010, especially after the botched sale of tickets to a Taylor Swift concert tour. Bloomberg said the lawsuit is expected to be filed in the Southern District of New York on Thursday.
Investing.com-- Shares of Live Nation Entertainment Inc (NYSE:LYV) sank in after hours trade on Wednesday on reports that the Department of Justice was planning to sue the firm over antitrust violations by Ticketmaster and to seek its separation from the firm.
