This needs to break the $80.00 resistance mark and they stay there in short term to see any real gains...

Full disclosure I work for Magna engineering/production/machine design/build. Somebody here will say this is a good investment for a 3-5 yr timeline. I beg to differ at current evaluations the timeline will be a lot less. I worked last Saturday to cover for some lines which make frame components for GM trucks/large sportutes. We have been working 6 days for the last few months and forward numbers are only getting stronger into 3Q. Now I drove by 2 GM dealerships on my way in and of the 2 dealerships neither one had a new fullsize truck or sportute on the lot. Now in order for manufacturers to get back to fill their lots back to previous levels it will probably take almost a year of running full production. Just to get to those previous inventories if they ever go back to those. Now I just bought a new vehicle today and ended up replacing my existing vehicle with a Jeep Gladiator because it was the only one to have decent inventory. Initially I wanted a Ridgeline or Tacoma. Looking through inventories through half of Ontario you're lucky to find one per dealership at the most and even that is a stretch. After calling multiple dealers I was told that the only way to get a supplier discount was to order one (3-6 month wait) and if one came in before that wasn't already sold I could have a chance at it. That was Honda, GM and Toyota current conditions. Those lots are all down on all inventories cars, trucks, EV's..... Magna's current evaluation after going through a heavy red April dropped 1.5 per cent where the Dow lost 8 per cent in the last 2 weeks. Guidance was set as lower for the remainder of the year but the share price has already dropped 40 per cent from the highs. If you check the news the last month there are 3 new EV related plants breaking ground and my area alone 2 new programs starting replacing one. I think there might be some more pain ahead in the markets but buyers have been stepping up at the 75-78CAD levels. Either way I'm not retiring anytime soon so I'm not here to pump but be realistic if you're going to take a shot at it. I have been adding every 2 weeks at current levels. Cheers!

this Sam guy has no credibility on this board. for someone who has vested interest on shorting a stock, making money off other long investors, no one needs to listen to this guy as all his posts will be bearish about magna

For Magna investors with a time horizon of five years or more, you can attain major profits by getting your average cost basis below $50 USD. The key is to start investing more heavily in the middle of the crash phase (below $50 USD or $64.50 CAD). More economists and financial institutions are beginning to forecast a recession and market crash. Examine the macroeconomic and geopolitical warning signs. Magna is a good company, but it will have to suffer greatly before recovery. I will be continuing my short position and ending it at the right time. For now, do not invest, but buy during the crash phase.

I'm looking forward to getting the $0.45 USD dividend payment on May 27th. Trading ex-dividend today.

Magna’s losses in its last earnings report were partly softened by stronger foreign currencies. But now the US dollar has been on a major upward climb - not good news because most of Magna’s production is based outside of America.

bad earnings out of Autoliv {ALV} ..i own both ALV and MGA ... both really solid companies ...ALV has issues external to it, i.e. supply chain and cost pressures from raw materials, etc ... these will be dealt with in time thru price increases and resolution of supply chain issues .. mga will more than likely face similar issues ..no worries ...just hold your shares ...these companies have good futures ahead of them ... and they aren't losing money ..

This is a pick and shovel EV play. Roughly 85% of their products are "agnostic". Doesn't matter if the car is EV or ICE. Dividend is easily covered and will be raised. Patience wins the day. "I buy stocks from pessimists and I sell stocks to optimists."

Bought some shares on a long time limit order @60. 3% div yield, 10% avg. DGR, well below normal P/E, with 10% E growth est. this year, 43% E gain for FY23. Works for me, in my ERIDP..

One of the big bearish trends I haven’t seen discussed yet is backwards vertical integration by OEMs. Tesla and Volkswagen are expanding their in-house capabilities for quality control, unique innovation, and supply reliability. Backwards vertical integration is likely to expand across the auto industry and that could pose a threat to a parts supplier like Magna International. Also, keep in mind that automotive suppliers tend to lack the pricing power needed to combat accelerating inflation, due to the low switching costs that OEMs have.

My portfolio is 100% short on Magna International. I began purchasing long dated bearish derivatives in 2021 and I have been consistent in my short strategy ever since. If Magna falls far enough, my return will be close to 5,000%. Good luck to everyone.

mga & alv are good long term holdings ... however in short term with interest rates rising and possible recession, best to wait for a really good price entry ... in any case, long term holders will be rewarded ..gl

Take a look at ticker ILUS as well: EVs, Drones and UAVs. ILUS International is profitable in their first year and uplisting. They have recently signed a massive deal with the European Union. Please see Yahoo Finance for more details and news.
