Mostly Nestle buys today with good reasons. YTD 15.75% and 1.62% dividend after paying U.S. foreign tax of 30%. Nestle has tons of superb products and holds 30% of L'Oreal stock. Good way to invest in ex-U.S.

When ever you feel down just check our Nestle 5 year chart! Nestle does it the old fashioned way. Was that E.F. Hutton?

NSRGY bets on goldenberries. Hint to management... it'll take a lot more than goldenberries to make the company shine again. How about some THC-laced spring water?

@@@Nestle’s acquisition of a 60 percent stake in Terrafertil, which which owns the Nature’s Heart brand and is the world’s largest buyer of goldenberries, closed Tuesday. “Consumers these days are increasingly looking for organic and natural food with high nutrient content,” said Laurent Freixe, CEO of Nestle Americas. “We are looking forward to exploring with Terrafertil the potential of their products.”

Im curios what Nestle Shareholders think of an investment into a CPG Cannabis company (Aphria- APHA). Leveraging THC in Candy products like ‘crunch, laggy taffy and dreyers’ and CBD wellness in powerbar, garnier at and pet supplies? Yah/Nah and why?

    $MCD conversation
Ad I predicted on this discussion board a couple of weeks ago, $MCD has teamed up with $NSRGY for their meatless burgers.

@@@McDonald’s is inching closer to getting fully on board the meatless burger bandwagon with a new version in one of its biggest international markets. The burger chain is now selling a vegan burger, the Big Vegan TS, in Germany, one of its five leading overseas markets. Nestle is making the meatless patty for McDonald’s, which first started selling the burger late last month.

Not exactly the kind of earnings update I was hoping for. China sales slowed, and water is facing some challenges that has triggered a restructure of the business. Organic growth still stuck in the low single digits compared to historical steady mid-single digit results seen many moons ago. The bright spot was nice growth in pet foods due largely to e-commerce initiatives. Promises to allocate cash from the Skin Health unit sale to share buybacks (at these relatively high valuations?) and special dividends (can you say special tax hit?). Disappintingly no discussion in the analyst Q&A about what type of acqusitions might be targetted to accelerate growth. I decided to reduce my position. I may buy it back if/when there's more visibility on acquisition strategy and growth recovery. Stock conitnued to look weak on the update today... maybe a pullback into the 90's?

    >>>Nestlé SA, NSRGY -1.11% the world’s biggest bottled-water maker, is overhauling that business as the industry navigates big consumer shifts—from the rise of sparkling water to a backlash against single-use plastic. Bottled-water sales have boomed in recent decades, particularly in the U.S.—Nestlé’s biggest water market—as consumers cut back on sugary soft drinks. But growth has slowed lately as the category matures and consumers opt for sparkling and flavored waters, which are drunk in smaller quantities. U.S. bottled-water volumes rose 4% last year, down from 8.3% in 2015, according to Euromonitor. Globally, sales growth slowed to 6% from 7.2%

No suprise to see the algos hard at work the last couple of days in the consumer staples sector, taking profits after driving it up to silly valuations. Does it stop here? No one knows except the big boys. But NSRGY does have some potential catalysts that are yet to play out. Product rollout afer signing a licensing deal with SBUX earlier this year. Skin Health confirmed to be sold for ~$10B by EOY freeing up a big pile of cash to re-invest in new ooportunities. Herta meats still on the chopping block that will free even more cash. Maybe they will boost their stake in l'Oreal to offset the loss of exposure to skin health? Share buyback? Push into CBD (and THC) products? Double down on plant-based foods (a deal with MCD worldwide would be nice)? Again no one really knows except the management team as NSRGY. Growth improving after years of stagnation under the old CEO... still under 4% so more work to do to get back to historical mid-single digit rate, but the new CEO seems willing to make changes which was long overdue.

    It's coming. And it's a doozy.

@@@ZURICH (Reuters) - Nestle SA has entered exclusive negotiations to sell its skin health business to a consortium led by private equity firm EQT Partners and ADIA in a deal worth 10.2 billion Swiss francs ($10.12 billion), it said on Thursday. The proposed transaction with EQT and a unit of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) was expected to close in the second half of 2019 pending regulatory approval.Nestle will provide an update on how it will use the proceeds and its future capital structure at that time, the world’s biggest food group said in a statement.

Special dividend? I'd prefer to see re-investment of proceeds. Maybe it's time they took a hard look at CBD/THC 'wellness' beverages.

@@@Nestlé President Paul Bulcke and CEO Mark Schneider want to stick to the strategy of focusing on organic growth, even though investors' demands for large transactions are growing louder. "Growth is the key," says Bulcke to BILANZ, adding: "Financial market sympathies come and go, but the strategy of where to get involved and what to acquire remains." Schneider says that in his growth strategy of concentrating on promising areas (such as coffee or pet food) "in the implementation phase" and in growth "we are not where we want to be". Schneider emphasizes that he has "been very cautious about big deals right from the start. Special dividend to the shareholders. An insider reports that the full Nestlé funds, which will receive another 10 billion Swiss francs from the sale of the Skin Health division this fall, may be cleared to shareholders via a special dividend - this would be a new tool for Nestlé and is currently in the Discussion, as well as other steps, to invest more money: in higher marketing budgets and faster rolling out of new Starbucks coffee products in new markets.
