Audi says resolves dispute with former engineer in dieselgate case

Audi (NSUG.DE) said it had resolved a legal dispute with a former engineer who sued the carmaker for wrongful dismissal and re-employment after he was fired amid investigations into the diesel emissions scandal. At a German labour court hearing in February, Audi lawyers claimed that Ulrich Weiss, former head of diesel engine development at the carmaker, knew about the emissions manipulations but had failed to inform his superiors. On Saturday, a spokesman for Audi said the working relationship with Weiss "has been terminated by mutual consent".

    Munich prosecutors expand Audi investigation

MUNICH/BERLIN, June 2 (Reuters) - Munich prosecutors said they have widened an investigation at Audi to examine the carmaker's sales in Germany and elsewhere in Europe after the federal government accused the Volkswagen (IOB: 0P6N.IL - news) division of cheating on emissions tests in its home market. German investigators searched Audi (IOB: 0FG8.IL - news) offices for a second day on Thursday in connection with the emissions scandal still rocking parent Volkswagen (IOB: 0P6N.IL - news) , according to the Munich prosecutor's office. Germany's auto industry warns 'hard Brexit' to stifle UK investment

Germany's powerful carmakers warned uncertainty about future tariffs in the wake of a "hard Brexit" could deter investment in Britain over a number of years, hampering their largest export market. Every second new car sold in Britain comes from a German-owned brand, and every second car made in the United (Shenzhen: 000925.SZ - news) Kingdom is exported to a customer in the European Union, Germany's carmaking lobby VDA said. "An exit of Great Britain from the (EU's) common market would have significant consequences for the economy on both sides of the channel," VDA president Matthias Wissmann said in a statement to Reuters on Wednesday.
