Native communities urge Petrotal to close its operations due to lack of dialogue

    By Kingston- October 19, 2021

This Tuesday, through a letter, the Lower Puinahua Indigenous Development and Conservation Association (Aidecobap) made the decision to radicalize its fight against the Peruvian State, to the point that they exhorted Petrotal (operator of Lot 95) to stop its operations completely.

“We agreed to make the decision that as of this date, (Petrotal) will close its operations in its entirety until the State deigns to dialogue with this indigenous organization of the Puinahua,” details a letter signed by various indigenous leaders of the Villa Gran Tierra.

Along these lines, they recall that “the death of our three brothers and ten wounded by gunshots will not go unpunished.”

It is worth emphasizing that this occurs in the context of the uncertainty about who will take the reins of the Vice Ministry of Hydrocarbons, which to date is still led by Enrique Bisetti.

President: Peru is fully open to attracting investments

Photo: ANDINA/Presidency of the Republic of Peru

    12:55 | Lima, Oct. 22.

The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Friday reaffirmed that Peru is fully open to attracting investments which guarantee respect for the environment.

The Head of State delivered a message to businesspeople from the region during a forum organized by the United States Chamber of Commerce.

On this occasion, he invited entrepreneurs to visit the South American country to explore investment opportunities.

"As I pointed out in my recent presentation at the United Nations, and today I ratify it, Peru is fully open to attracting investments that guarantee respect for the environment, improve the quality and level of employment, as well as promote technology transfer, thus providing concrete benefits to all citizens," he expressed.

The top official recalled that —during his trip to the UN— many companies had accepted the invitation to visit Peru and encourage investment nationwide.

"I want to extend this invitation to all of you; this is the right moment to consolidate the strong ties of friendship and cooperation with the United States; we have a new opportunity," he pointed out.

Furthermore, the President stressed that "we are at a propitious moment to consolidate the strong ties of friendship and cooperation with the United States" based on a convergent political will —instruments such as the free trade agreement and the presence of around one million Peruvians who have chosen the U.S. as their second home.

In this sense, Mr. Castillo indicated that his administration will continue promoting dialogue between the Executive Branch and the private sector, which will allow the identification of trade and investment opportunities in both nations.

"We will work to continue fostering this dialogue with the private sector to identify trade and investment opportunities in both countries, to consolidate the economic recovery, the fight against the pandemic, the protection of the environment, and equal opportunities for all," he added.

Mr. Castillo also specified that the projections by various institutions show that Peru will register the highest growth in the region this year thanks to the rapid recovery of our economy and the favorable environment that prevails to do business and invest in different sectors.

Castillo is clearly changing position towards private investments. The conflict with the Indigenous will certainly be resolved soon.

Forget $100, Options Traders Now Betting On Oil Prices Hitting $200

By Tsvetana Paraskova - Oct 19, 2021, 7:00 PM CDT

As oil prices hit multi-year highs, some speculative traders are betting on the options market that oil could exceed $100 a barrel by the end of this year and even reach a record $200 per barrel by the end of 2022.
Call options give traders the right—but not the obligation—to buy assets at a certain price, the so-called strike price, by a certain date.

The amounts of call options at triple-digit strikes have soared in recent weeks, suggesting that more speculative traders are attracted by potential quick profits from options trades, which are relatively low-cost ways to speculate on the direction of an asset.
Some “wild” bets such as call options at a $100 per barrel WTI Crude strike by December 2021 or $200 per barrel Brent Crude by December 2022 have been placed in recent weeks, The Wall Street Journal reports, citing data from provider QuikStrike.

Vasquez is a lawyer and has represented indigenous communities in conflict with big mining companies, including a landmark case against Newmont Mining Corp's Yanacocha gold mine. Still, she said Castillo's government would support mining, a key source of tax revenue for the country, which is the world's No. 2 copper producer.
"One of our most important bets is to take advantage of the resources and carry out an activity like mining," she said.

Station 5 is shutdown. As indicated in most recent presentation, this will not affect production short term.

Around 200 indigenous Peruvians have taken over the facilities of a pipeline station of Petroperu, the state-owned company said on Tuesday, as part of a protest by Amazon native groups demanding better economic and social support in the area.
Residents in the Manseriche district of northern Peru's Loreto region had invaded station 5 of the North Peruvian pipeline on Monday, which had caused the company to stop pumping oil, Petroperu said in a statement.
Protesters "have been irresponsibly installing tents and other items without taking security conditions into account," the company said, adding it had evacuated its personnel from the area.
Reuters could not immediately reach for comment representatives of the Amazonian groups, who have previously carried out blockades and seizures of oil pipeline stations.

Just Sent a question to IR about the social unrest and here is the answer. Seems like they have contingency plans...
Hi, thank you for your question.  Yes we confirm there is an ongoing protest at pump station 5, however, we believe it shall be resolved shortly.  As stated in our most recent press release, PetroTal plays a very supportive and interactive role in these types of events.  Also, please refer to our corporate presentation which communicates material storage and offtake options for our production profile during events like this.

LIMA, Oct 8 (Reuters) - Peru's new prime minister Mirtha Vasquez said redrafting the country's pro-market constitution is not currently a priority for the government, despite it having been a key campaign promise.
"This government is not proposing (to change the constitution) and won't propose that overnight," Vasquez said during one of her first interviews late on Friday with state-owned TV Peru. "Right now, what matters is facing the pandemic...and especially generating economic stability."

No material difference with share dilution today!
Fair market value went from .44/share to .4395/share!
It's better to get the dilution out of the way sooner because the dilution effect increases when the market cap increases. If the market cap was fully diluted today, with all available warrants, it would only shave 2.5 cents of the fair market value per share, which isn't going to matter when the shares are at $0.80-.90 from todays value now at .445 The dilution effect is dampened by the funds received for the shares.

Doubled production. Low debt. Low break even price. High oil price and rising. 100% ownership of fields. Tons of oil in the ground. Expecting to nearly double production again next year. Pretty solid investment.
