HEINY vs. PRNDY: Which Stock Is the Better Value Option?
French spirits group Pernod Ricard said on Friday it stopped exports of all its international brands to Russia at the end of April and also plans to end the distribution of its portfolio of brands to Russia. Ending the distribution of the portfolio, which includes brands such as Armenian brandy Ararat, is a process that Pernod Ricard expects to take "some months" to complete, the group said in a statement on its website. A spokesperson for Pernod Ricard said the company, which owns international brands such as Martell cognac and Beefeater gin, would keep a "limited team" in Russia in order to eventually resume business in the future.

PARIS, May 04, 2023--Regulatory News: As part of its share buyback program announced on 1 September 2022 (€750m for FY23, confirmed during the Q3 sales publication), Pernod Ricard (Paris:RI) has signed an agreement with an investment services provider, whereby Pernod Ricard will undertake to acquire its own shares for a maximum amount of c. €300m over a period starting on May 4th, 2023 and possibly extending until June 16th, 2023.
PARIS, April 27, 2023--Regulatory News: Pernod Ricard (Paris:RI):
French spirits group Pernod Ricard reported a bigger-than-expected decline in third-quarter sales but said it was confident of delivering a strong performance over the 2022/2023 full year, predicting "very strong" sales in the fourth quarter. Pernod, the world's second-biggest spirits group after Diageo, said that it expected consumer demand to recover further in China following the lifting of COVID restrictions. It also banked on more favourable comparables in the United States and in China, where it planned further price increases.
Pernod Ricard's managing director for India Paul-Robert Bouhier has resigned from his position, three sources told Reuters on Wednesday, a top departure for the company as it faces a series of regulatory challenges in the country. Bouhier, who only took over the India job in January, has resigned due to personal reasons, one of the sources said. Pernod and Bouhier did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
NEW DELHI (Reuters) -Pernod Ricard has asked an Indian court to push New Delhi city authorities to grant it a liquor sale licence, after local officials rejected the French company's request, citing certain investigations, a legal filing shows. In a 332-page court filing at the Delhi High Court on April 23, the maker of Chivas Regal and Absolut Vodka argues Delhi authorities made the decision based on unproved allegations against the company. "Merely because there may be certain allegations ... cannot be equated with a criminal or be considered as having a criminal background," Pernod Ricard's filing stated.
LONDON/PARIS (Reuters) -French spirits group Pernod Ricard said it is suspending exports entirely of its premium vodka Absolut to Russia, having previously reduced sales following Moscow's invasion of Ukraine. Last week, several media outlets reported that Absolut was "supplying products in an amount that can support local employees and give local entities economic sustainability," citing a Pernod spokesperson. Pernod said in a statement emailed to Reuters that as a result it has taken the decision to suspend Absolut supplies entirely due to a "duty of care towards our employees and partners."
Drinks giant Pernod Ricard is facing "massive losses" to business in India because its brands have not been available in the capital New Delhi for six months due to a licence issue delay, according to documents and sources. The issue is the latest business headache for the French spirits group in India, a key growth market. Pernod has operated for more than 20 years in Delhi and across India where licences to operate are granted by states individually, and in most cases have to be renewed every year.
PARIS, March 21, 2023--Regulatory News: Press Release – Paris, 21 March 2023
PARIS (Reuters) -Pernod Ricard on Thursday said it planned more price increases in the second half of the year in China and the United States to protect its profit margins against the high costs of freight, energy and glass. The owner of Martell cognac, Mumm champagne and Absolut vodka also predicted robust annual sales growth and said it was confident about its prospects in the Chinese market as it re-opens from COVID lockdowns. Chairman and CEO Alexandre Ricard told Reuters demand was "soft" during Chinese New Year festivities in January due to COVID restrictions but noted China has since dropped its zero-COVID policy with restaurants and bars reopening.

HEINY vs. PRNDY: Which Stock Is the Better Value Option?
The maker of Chivas Regal and Absolut vodka is the second-largest spirits company globally and in India. It accounts for 17% of the alcohol market by volume in India, where it competes with the likes of Diageo, IWSR Drinks Market Analysis says. Pernod has since last year been under the scanner of India's Enforcement Directorate as part of an investigation into how retailers, manufacturers and politicians allegedly colluded to illegally profit from the 2021 auction of liquor retail licences in New Delhi.
Pernod Ricard violated the liquor policy of India's capital city by financially supporting retailers who in exchange stocked more of the French company's brands and boosted its market share, the country's financial crimes agency alleges. India's Enforcement Directorate said in court documents filed in November that Pernod India provided corporate guarantees worth 2 billion rupees ($25 million) in 2021 to its banker HSBC and then asked it to facilitate loans to retailers, who used the funds to bid for liquor store licences in New Delhi. The Delhi government's policy prohibited manufacturers from participating in retail sales directly or indirectly and Pernod was "in contravention" as it effectively used bank guarantees to invest in retailers, said the documents, which were reviewed by Reuters.
Pernod Ricard SA (PRNDY) has been upgraded to a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy), reflecting growing optimism about the company's earnings prospects. This might drive the stock higher in the near term.

PRNDY vs. STZ: Which Stock Is the Better Value Option?
French spirits group Pernod Ricard is confident that its business in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America (EMEA/LATAM) will continue to deliver above market sales growth while protecting its margins in the 2023 fiscal year, EMEA-LATAM CEO Gilles Bogaert said on Tuesday. Bogaert was speaking in a video clip ahead of an investor presentation later in the day. A key focus for the region, which accounts for about 30% of group sales, entailed growing revenue to protect margins, continuing to increase prices, "agile" resource allocation and further digital transformation, he said.

India's federal financial crime agency has arrested P. Sarath Chandra Reddy, a director of Aurobindo Pharma Ltd, the drugmaker said in an exchange filing on Thursday. Several media reports also said French spirits giant Pernod Ricard's Benoy Babu, an executive at its India business, was also arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) under sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Pernod Ricard did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment, while Aurobindo did not respond to an email seeking details on the arrest.
