Analysis by Simon Browning, BBC business reporter - 21st May 2022

“Demand is high for holiday destinations across Europe, with airlines and tour operators reporting surges for summer sun bookings almost everywhere.”

That’s why Rolls Royce will beat the analysts expectations once again in short term. Also, the Q4 results will shock majority of the day traders but it will be too late for them.

Why am I here? SMRs and I am long. On the other hand, the military contracts shouldn’t be ignored. Rolls Royce is United Kingdom’s 🇬🇧 national security. As I always say buy before it is too late and avoid day trading(gambling). Happy weekend.

Rolls-Royce successfully powers directed energy field tests in U.S.
Rolls-Royce has successfully demonstrated ‘deep magazine’ power capability for directed energy applications, powering multiple, extended laser field tests in collaboration with Lockheed Martin as part of the Layered Laser Defense (LLD) project.

Deep magazine power capability is crucial for directed energy applications, which can be limited by battery-only systems that require recharging or replacement of batteries after a short period of operation. The Rolls-Royce ColdFireTM system includes both battery-powered and near-continuous firing modes, through a compact and fuel-efficient Rolls-Royce M250 gas turbine engine which provides consistent, extended power to operate the laser application.

Powered by the Rolls-Royce system, Lockheed Martin’s laser weapon system successfully shot down flying targets during the recent field tests conducted in partnership with the Office of Naval Research at the U.S. Army’s High Energy Laser Systems Test Facility at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico.

Craig McVay, Rolls-Royce Defense, Senior Vice President, said, “The Rolls-Royce ColdFireTM system successfully demonstrated extended firing capability during the field tests, proving the technology is ready to progress to customer applications. We built the most sophisticated power and thermal management system in the world, so we are ready for any challenge. Our U.S. Department of Defense customers continue to express interest in Rolls-Royce directed energy power and cooling technology, and we look forward to briefing them on the outstanding results from the field tests.”

Lockheed Martin developed the 100kW-class LLD to demonstrate cutting-edge laser weapon system technologies in an integrated system. Compact but powerful, and coupled with a Rolls-Royce ColdFire power and thermal system, it provides nearly continuous firing capability to engage more types of targets, in larger numbers, with longer range, than previous systems.

Paul Shattuck, Lockheed Martin, Director of Directed Energy Systems, said, “Our industry team worked together in great partnership to bring forward critical knowledge to build this compact laser weapon system with a near-limitless magazine.”

Rolls-Royce developed and tested the ColdFireTM system for over 10 years with $50 million in company investment. In addition to providing power to the directed energy system, ColdFireTM offers unique and highly effective cooling technology to dissipate the large amount of heat generated by the laser system.

Rolls-Royce is an industry leader in thermal management – the company’s advanced gas-turbine engines operate at temperatures far greater than the melting point of metal. That requires sophisticated engineering technology that allows engines to operate safely and effectively for thousands of hours. Rolls-Royce has adapted this proven thermal management knowledge into the ColdFireTM system.

Rolls-Royce ColdFireTM is a suite of world-class power and thermal options for any directed energy system, with technology ready now and tailored to the needs of the system. With field-proven laser and platform integration, ColdFireTM is suitable for land, sea or air systems, and features thermal and power options for specific customer needs. Directed energy systems offer low cost per shot and reduced logistical burdens, while offering compelling capabilities against today’s stressing threats including counter-hypersonic, and are versatile and scalable. Regardless of power sources or platform, thermal management integration with the laser is critical to system effectiveness.

Rolls-Royce North America employs 5,000 people in 27 states and is one of the world's preeminent manufacturers of highly efficient, integrated power and propulsion solutions. Rolls-Royce power systems are used in aerospace, naval marine, energy and off-highway applications.

The ColdFireTM technology was developed in the company’s LibertyWorks advanced technology unit based in Indianapolis, Indiana. Rolls-Royce products and services support customers across North America, including the U.S. Department of Defense.

I don't usually go all in on one share, but in this case I am going all in on RR.L.
It is down 75%, and is now a fitter and leaner company, with a growing market in small Nuclear Reactor power stations. This new market could dwarf the aero engine business.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime classic recovery stock and could be a ten-bagger over the next 3 years.

Struggling UK families are spending their evenings at McDonald’s to cut energy costs, The Guardian reported on Wednesday.

They do so amid the highest inflation rate in 40 years.

These families reportedly turn to places like McDonalds for free wi-fi, heat, and less-expensive food.

“People are buying their kids a Happy Meal for a few quid and keeping them warm inside. Then they wash and brush their teeth in the sinks and watch television for hours on the free wifi,” Matthew Cole of the Fuel Bank Foundation said, as quoted by The Guardian.

Jo Gilbert, the CEO of energy-focused advice charity Cubes, told the newspaper that “in reality, we’re way past using energy-saving tricks at home to limit bills significantly. People need government help now.”

The Rolls-Royce share price has taken a huge beating since the pandemic. Its stock has collapsed by over 60% since lockdowns came into place. However, there were many positives to take away from the firm’s Civil Aerospace Investor Day. So, here’s why I think the Rolls-Royce share price could be set for take-off this year.

19 May 2022 - For those who don't follow the news today:

"Rolls-Royce ColdFire Powers a New Generation of Laser Weapons for the U.S. Navy"
"Last month, the U.S. Navy conducted what was called “a historic test” of a new all-electric laser weapon system that successfully engaged and destroyed a subsonic cruise missile in flight. The weapon was part of the Layered Laser Defense (LLD) project developed by Lockheed Martin and supported by the Rolls-Royce game-changing ColdFire system."

Rolls Royce supported the test by the following technology. Another reason why you should buy before it is too late. In 2 - 5 years the price below 200p will be a bargain.

Kintbury Capital should think twice now before shorting Rolls Royce. They have been manipulating the RR.L price since mid April -they planned this with J.P. Morgan, but this week bulls decided to end the game. Systematic sell orders before the market close doesn't work any more. They are still attacking but as you can see bulls don't let this. Today's Rolls Royce results may force them to close their short position sometime soon.

    Well, the bulls were right!

Reuters: "Rolls-Royce boosted by return to flying and defence demand"

"Rolls Royce traded in line with expectations in the first four months of the year, the engine manufacturer said on Thursday, helped by a gradual return to flying and increased government investment in defence."

Well done Rolls Royce and this is just the beginning.

I have been buying since my first buy order and today I am green; I can easily tap that sell button to make around £6000. But why would I risk my entire investment? Why would I day trade and gamble my position? This 4.4% can give me £6k and tomorrow I can hope the price goes back to 78p level and then buy on Friday. Nope. I am an investor and I am long in RR.L. I am not going to sell even if the price gets to 190p. The opportunity is much bigger than this. SMRs. Stay long and avoid day trading(gambling).
