Committee to select new construction management adviser for Tanger Center

Greensboro Coliseum Complex Director Matt Brown will preside over an internal building committee meeting Wednesday at the ACC Hall of Champions to select a construction manager adviser (CMA) for the Steven B. Tanger Center for the Performing Arts, Coliseum Complex spokesman Andrew Brown told Triad Business Journal. Matt Brown, who is overseeing the estimated $80-million, downtown Tanger project along North Elm Street , could not be reached for comment by Triad Business Journal on Tuesday. Andrew Brown told Triad Business Journal that Phase I contractor D.H. Griffin Construction was scheduled to begin work on July 15 — though Matt Brown hopes it may begin earlier — and that its site work should take about three months.

Like it or not, Thursday's vote means St. Pete will get a new pier

Construction will officially start on the new St. Petersburg pier after City Council members approved the first $17.6 million phase of construction, laying the foundation for the new waterfront attraction. The total budget on the pier is $46 million, but the city allocated an additional $20 million for the pier approach and is asking Pinellas County to appropriate another $14 million for enhancements to the pier design. A city-funded study showed the new pier would have an $80 million economic impact in its first year of being open, though some residents question whether that’s an accurate assessment.
