any thoughts -- would now be a good time to sell $SLF and buy $MFC? This sell off seems overblown.

Interest rates going up and…insurance companies going down?
What’s the deal here? Almost none of the worlds big insurance companies (Allianz in Germany, Axa in France, our here) have creeped up much beyond their pre 07-08 crisis price.
Their underperformance over the years owes much to the depressed rates since the crisis, and again a drop in rates during Covid.
Now that rates are on the rise—from zero—, you’d think the tailwinds would be blowing hard in the insurance sector, but they don’t seem to be blowing as hard as in the oil & gas sector, which was a no brainer buy in March/April 2020.
Same deal here with insurance companies on the eve of big rate climbs? Or is inflation a much more complicated phenomenon than price increases at the grocery store?
I’m still buying, but cautiously.
L
Ouch on the earnings. Red day tomorrow
B
Rising rate and interest spread are tail wind to Sun Life.
P
Looks like this company needs to buy critical insurance for itself
B
SLF is a defensive value play.
C
So dumping at 69.23 last week turned out to be a fairly good ide😂😂✅
P
So far been a good week. Save some for earnings..lol
G
They have 70 billion cash on hand! That's great!

New to investing and was really interested in this stock wondering your thoughts on buying after the ex dividend date?
A
This is the best stock in my portfolio and I am buying more today and tomorrow.
g
I bought this at 35 with a target of 42. I'm thinking of selling and taking a nice gain, but fundamentals still look very strong. I'm going to go with a price target of 50 and hold for awhile but put a trailing stop on it in case I'm wrong. The dividend, of course, is nice too. Thoughts?
D
Any long-term investors here?
a
This company is the best run insurance company in Canada. They are fiscally smart too. Ex-dividend date coming up. Good time to get in before the divvy hunters coming looking for treats.
G
why premarket showing price drop of 5% today. any news?
s
What is up with this company? Even after good earnings and a dividend increase, it still takes a dive.
N
I’ve been in this stock for awhile now and have been watching it go down day by day. But from what I’ve seen, the financials look good and therefore I’m holding on. Their annual report is coming out in early August and I just have a feeling there will be some upward movement at that point. I’ve held On this long, I might as well stay the course and see what happens. But it’s a good company and I think the price will go up
R
$1.31 earned per share over $1.12 per share expected.....a solid beat. Hopefully this will be reflected in tomorrow's price action.
S
Load 200 shares yesterday at 69.8.
