Question: The divy is fine but with interest rates rising fast why do we only want 5.6% when 3% is available for CDs etc...that's not too much of a spread and the share price isn't heading higher to make up the risk vs reward....thoughts?

T is on a roll. but so far it is together with VZ and TMUS. If it can break thru the 12 month high that should give it a good kick up.

What the Federal Supreme Court said is that there's nothing in the Constitution concerning abortion so it's not a Federal issue, it's a state by state issue. They never banned abortions like the libtards are claiming, they just passed the issue on to the states where it's always belonged.

I keep seeing folks referring to the 5.5% dividend. I don't get near that with my revised Cost Basis after the split. Actually, I'm getting closer and closer to just cutting my losses, but I'll wait a bit to see what happens.

    Morgan Stanley Report.

Cash flow, capital return could bring AT&T 20% upside

After a strong 2022 so far for AT&T, Morgan Stanley's Simon Flannery dug into the company's bull case to see how the stock could find 20% more upside through a number of factors.

The April spin-off of its media arm allowed for some focus on its core Communications business, Flannery noted, saying "We believe the Remain co. offers investors an attractive valuation, a delevered balance sheet, and defensive positioning in a volatile market."

Morgan Stanley rates the stock In Line, and its $22 price target currently implies about 5% further upside.

Some better visibility into the post-media financials, and the chance for incremental capital return, could offer more gains - to a bull-case target of $27 per share, Flannery said.

That would call for more visibility into performance in 2023 and beyond.

Which factors specifically? "Improving free cash flow; Deleveraging leading to opportunities for incremental capital returns; and Industry re-rating as a result of the attractiveness as a defensive play," Flannery wrote.

AT&T is guiding for expansion of free cash flow in 2023 and beyond, both through growing adjusted EBITDA and cutting capital expenditures. EBITDA is expected to grow 6% in 2023, accelerating from 3% growth this year, and capex is expected to fall by nearly 17% in 2024 to $20 billion, with the relaxing of 5G rollout spending.

Combined with a stronger balance sheet (improving faster with more free cash flow), AT&T expects that should lead the company to 2.5x net leverage by the end of 2023.

Meanwhile, an ongoing rotation into defensive names can lift the valuations of Telecom Services stocks as a whole, Flannery wrote; AT&T currently trades at a 54% discount to the S&P 500, on a price/earnings basis.
