Investing.com -- Finnish insurer Sampo (HE:SAMPO) has agreed to acquire the rest of the shares in Topdanmark (CSE:TOP) it does not already own in a deal that values its Danish peer at 33 billion Danish crowns, according to a statement from the two companies on Monday.
(Reuters) -European shares closed marginally higher on Monday, with banks and technology stocks rebounding from losses last week after markets were startled by political uncertainty in France, while Danish insurer Topdanmark surged on Sampo's buyout bid. Banks advanced nearly 1% after tumbling more than 8% last week, among top boosts for the benchmark index, while technology stocks were next in line with a 0.6% gain, recovering from a nearly 2% drop last week. The benchmark index, however, did hit a six-week low earlier in the session.
OSLO (Reuters) -Finnish insurer Sampo has agreed to buy Topdanmark in an all-share deal that values the Danish rival at 33 billion crowns ($4.73 billion), the two companies said on Monday. Sampo already owns 48.5% of the Danish property and casualty (P&C) insurer, according to LSEG data. Based on Friday's closing share prices, the offer represents a 27% premium per share of Topdanmark, the companies said in a joint statement.
