    United Utilities sees higher FY profit, revenue

    Revenue is expected to be "slightly higher" for the year, while underlying operating profit is expected to be "moderately higher", the company said, adding that current trading was in line with its expectations. The company's revenue for the year ended March 31, 2017 was 1.7 billion pounds and profit was 622.9 million pounds. The utility, which supplies and treats water in north-western UK, maintained its guidance on capital expenditure and outcome delivery incentives - used by Britain's water regulator Ofwat to push companies to offer better services to customers, improve operations and cut down on costs.

    Around a third of United Utilities' employees are expected to strike on March 16 and 19, but the company said it planned to keep its services running as normal. The company said it had already agreed with unions to introduce a "hybrid" pension scheme rather than scrap its defined benefit scheme.     Water firm United Utilities hit with £300,000 fine over contamination

    Water firm United Utilities (LSE: UU.L - news) has been fined £300,000 after supplying water unfit for human consumption to more than 700,000 customers. People in Lancashire were forced to boil their water for almost three weeks in the summer of 2015 after the microbial parasite cryptosporidium was found in the Franklaw water treatment works in Preston (Other OTC: PSNP - news) . The firm admitted supplying water unfit for human consumption at an earlier hearing and will also have to pay £150,000 in prosecution costs.
