VW has released preliminary figures for Q1 and they look extremely good. 8.5B operating profit before special items and special items includes 3.5B positive increase on hedging items. VW has also release Q1 vehicle delivery figures, which show BEV ramping, but sales have been limited by the chip shortage.

Even if it fall to 120 due to multiple problems: high energy price, production stop due to parts lack from Ukraine. loss of factories in Russia and Russian market and risk for total stop due to Russian gas total stop and Chinese factories and market risks I will possibly buy a lot every 10% drop and will wait even a year if necessary: it will become great again!

I worked at Ford for forty years. Nevertheless, I trust VW to have the talent, engineering, capital, foresight, has withstood formidable set backs and will lead the future in EVs.

Take a solid look at ticker ILUS my fellow investors - they are Nasdaq bound - uplisting in 2022. ILUS has patented firefighting technology. (Example: water mist nozzle for EV battery fires)
They are in talks with Tesla regarding this patented technology. ILUS manufactures EV's / UAV's, and Drones.

No more chip shortage for VW?

    https://finance.yahoo.com/news/volkswagen-design-chips-autonomous-vehicles-121034808.html

HAMBURG (Reuters) - Volkswagen plans to design and develop its own high-powered chips for autonomous vehicles, along with the required software, Chief Executive Herbert Diess told a German newspaper.

"To achieve optimal performance in light of the high demands that exist for cars, software and hardware have to come out of one hand," Diess told Handelsblatt.

Volkswagen did not plan to build semiconductors but wanted to own patents if possible, Diess said, adding that the group's software unit Cariad would develop the expertise and expand.

The move is a response to Tesla, which can integrate custom designed chips, allowing the U.S. company to develop new features faster than its competitors.

"Apple and Tesla have higher competence in terms of how semiconductors are defined," Diess said.

Germany's Daimler unveiled a deal with Nvidia last year to develop and equip its Mercedes-Benz cars with a next-generation chip and software platform.

I sold on the spike up, not at the top, but a plentiful gain. I felt this pullback would happen, too much too fast for this large automaker. That said, I am watching for a re-entry point, but factoring in overall market trend right now as well. Long term, I think VW goes higher. But for a trade, I'm just watching right now. Be ready to act fast on any good -or- bad news in the overall markets...

As a classic car guy and owner, I have accepted that EV is indeed the future. Be on the right ride is key now, I don't think Tesla is it, I think VW is the big player, followed by GM. Tesla will eventually fall lower in the mix, but if you can't choose, make a basket of them all...

    Good trading to all...
