    FDA staff question benefit of AstraZeneca ovarian cancer drug

    AstraZeneca Plc (NYSE: AZN - news) 's experimental ovarian cancer drug, olaparib, showed an 83 percent reduction in the risk of disease progression, but a U.S. Food and Drug Administration staff review has questioned whether the result could be reproduced. The company's shares fell 1.8 percent to 43.89 pounds on the London Stock Exchange (Other OTC: LDNXF - news) . Olaparib, one of several cancer drugs AstraZeneca has flagged as having strong potential in its defense of a $118 billion take-over bid by Pfizer Inc (NYSE: PFE - news) , is designed as a maintenance therapy for relapsed ovarian cancer in which tumors have responded completely or partially to platinum-based chemotherapy.

    FOREX-Euro hovers near 4-month lows as ECB looms

    * ECB expected to ease policy at meeting LONDON, June 5 (Reuters) - The euro languished near four-month lows on Thursday as investors wait to see how aggressive the European Central Bank will be in loosening monetary policy to tackle the threat of disinflation. Many see that as the first step towards quantitative easing by the ECB, prompting speculators and investors to build up large bets against the euro. Traders said if the ECB falls short of expectations, it could see the euro bounce.
