This was from the BBC web site in May 2019....how true this is today:
"For a business that now sees itself as being all about wellness and not just shedding pounds, the company formerly known as Weight Watchers looks like it has been on a crash diet.
In the second half of its financial year, it dropped 600,000 subscribers.
And at the beginning of its peak season - when Christmas overindulgence morphs into New Year virtuousness - membership is well below forecasts.
The problem, it seems, is all in the name.
After 56 years of trading as Weight Watchers, the company changed its name last September to WW, which, it says, doesn't stand for anything - not Weight Watchers, not even its new tagline "Wellness that Works".

I took a read on youtube and also some social media forums--- as mentioned here the branding has been the biggest issue with this company. I said a few weeks ago getting the company back to its core first, then supplementing with the wellness was the way to go. Build that brand awareness back, take out confusion. Just my two cents-- and the new programs are coming I suspect they announce after Q3 earnings. We are at a very attractive stock price here at 18 for the future and gain potential. Will take time.

Wonder why Oprah felt compelled to thank Mindy Grossman. She made the brand confusing and lost investors quite a bit of money. You need private equity to come in and fix this business. Take it private, and then relist once it's back on track. And oh year, let's bring back the Weight Watchers name. What in the world is WW?

well we know that the Q3 and Q4 will be meh at best. If the results are not a total disaster, I think the bad news is already in the stock price. If they fall off the cliff then with the year end tax selling we may be looking at the low teens.

interesting day--- the possibility of really tanking was there early-- and we tested 17.50... We are now back above 18... Dont expect anything due to big funds and hedge selling by Oct 31. I am encouraged we held and stock acting good at the 18 level.

At what point does this company look appealing to Private Equity? M&A activity has run rampant this year, best market I've ever experienced. WW seems ripe for the picking.

Its in the Form 4's that were all just filed.

very good to see a move up but its low volume and not a confirmed move... downside pressure at the moment is gone so this is good. Still too much risk with Q3 earnings coming and tax loss selling.

Look at the Volume !!! Amazing...

We maintain our Standard capital allocation rating for no-moat WW International as CEO Mindy Grossman plans to step down following the first quarter of 2022. While we are taking a wait-and-see approach as far as strategic continuity is concerned, we see little reason for the firm to distance itself from its longer-term strategy of building out a holistic digital wellness ecosystem based on customization, community, and livability. As a result, we maintain our investment thesis and don't foresee changes to our assessment of management's approach and investment philosophy. The shares continue to look undervalued relative to our $35 fair value estimate.

Grossman joined the firm in 2017, re-emphasizing the importance of digital development and spearheading the rebranding to WW International from Weight Watchers as the company sought to position itself as a holistic wellness provider rather than simply a weight-loss solution. She leaves the company with a revamped digital platform, its largest-ever digital member base, and a pipeline of promising projects, from the firm's planned 2022 food innovation launch to its clinical trials for a Food and Drug Administration-compliant diabetes diet. Grossman will stay through the critical fourth and first quarters, leading WW through its most important period, with marketing spending and new subscriber figures peaking after the Christmas season.

The board of directors will conduct its search for her replacement over the coming months.

encouraged we have held 18... market soaring, but no price movement. Dont expect any price action until CEO is announced. I find the action in the 18-19 range very constructive.

the fact this closed up in another bad market is very encouraging.. we could have easily made ma new 52 week low and headed for 17.5 but held 18 again.. very good price action today

Real Matt…let’s say they name Oprah the CEO…would that be good or bad for SP in your opinion? Or do they need to lose Oprah completely and get some top exec from another killer company?
