The government has set up a new Green Home Grants scheme worth £2bn to help Brits make their houses more energy efficient. Homeowners and landlords can claim grants of up to £5,000 to spend on eco-friendly renovations such as installing insulation, fitting an eco-friendly boiler, or installing double glazing. The government will cover two thirds of the cost of renovations. Britain's poorest can also claim full grants worth up to £10,000 to cover the same work.
