Air Tanker Flies Through Thick Smoke From Fire on Sydney's Outskirts

Residents on the outskirts of Sydney were warned to “leave before it is too late” on November 15 as an out-of-control bushfire continued to spread.

The New South Wales Rural Fire Service on Friday night said the Gospers Mountain Fire was spreading quickly in the Wollemi National Park area.

The fast-moving fire, in the Hawkesbury area to Sydney’s northwest, was more than 85,700 hectares in size, authorities said.

The ABC quoted a local firefighter, who said the blaze could intensify.

The fire service on Friday said there were 61 fires still burning across the state, 35 of which were not contained. The national death toll from the fires had risen to four. Credit: NSW Rural Fire Service via Storyful
