Yahoo Finance Amazon labor practices under scrutiny; Boeing, Airbus urge 5G delay; CA sues Walmart; P&G recall

- Senators Marco Rubio and Sherrod Brown have called for an investigation into Amazon's labor practices. The two senators issued a joint letter to Secretary of Labor, Marty Walsh, pointing out how one out of every 170 US workers is an Amazon employee.
They say that goes against the US interest of fair employment practices that are in line with the law. Amazon is the second largest employer in the US, behind Walmart. It's the fourth largest company in the world with a market cap of over $1.7 trillion.
Boeing CEO, Dave Calhoun, and Airbus America CEO, Jeffrey Knittel, are urging the White House to delay the planned deployment of new 5G wireless services. They warn it could harm aviation safety. In a joint letter, the executives asked US Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to back postponing AT&T and Verizon's January 5 rollout of the wireless service.
They argue it could have a large negative impact on the aviation industry's ability to safely operate aircraft. The telecom firms first planned to launch the service in November, but they delayed it due to the need of additional precautionary measures.
California officials have filed a statewide lawsuit against Walmart over its disposal of unwanted materials. In a 42 page document, the lawsuit alleges the retail giant illegally disposed of hazardous waste at landfills across the state. It claims that Walmart dumped nearly 160,000 pounds of waste in the state over 16 years. We're talking about items like insect killer sprays, lithium batteries and toxic cleaning supplies. Walmart defended itself in an email to NPR saying the lawsuit is, quote, "unjustified."
And Procter and Gamble issued a voluntary recall of over 30 aerosol spray products after benzene, a chemical known to cause cancer, was found in them. The recalled items include dry shampoo and dry conditioner and certain Old Spice and Secret Spray deodorants. Pantene, Aussie and Herbal Essences products are also all included in the recall.
