Anti-Brexit Group Mock Gove With Huge Sand Artwork on Redcar Beach

Led by Donkeys, an anti-Brexit campaign group, created an enormous portrait of Michael Gove in the sand of a northeast England beach on Sunday, September 1, alongside a quote from him saying, “We didn’t vote to leave without a deal.”

The work, on Redcar beach, measured 7,500 sqm, according to Zetland FM.

“This region is going to be very badly hit by Brexit and no deal especially, so I think people of the area and in Redcar need to see this quote from Michael Gove,” said Oliver Knowles, one of the group’s founders, to Zetland FM.

Previously, the group has posted on billboards old tweets by David Cameron and Boris Johnson. One revisited Cameron’s 2015 campaign “choice” of “stability” with him and his government or “chaos with Ed Miliband”. Earlier this year, it used a 2017 tweet by Boris Johnson, in which he said, “There is no plan for no deal, because we’re going to get a great deal.” Credit: Led by Donkeys via Storyful
