Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema Votes Against $15 Minimum Wage Effort

Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema voted against moving forward with efforts to include a $15 federal minimum wage as part of the COVID-19 relief package on Friday, March 5.

The Democratic senator was seen giving an emphatic thumbs down during Friday’s vote to move forward with debating the increase, breaking with fellow Arizona Sen Mark Kelly, who voted in favor of the Sen Bernie Sanders-led measure, which would raise the federal minimum hourly wage from $7.25 to $15.

Sen Sinema was among six other Democrats and independent Sen Angus King of Main, who caucuses with the Democrats, to join all 50 Republican senators in opposing the effort. Credit: CSPAN via Storyful
