Armed Man Surrenders to Officers Outside UN Headquarters

An armed man surrendered to police after an hours-long standoff outside the United Nations headquarters in New York on December 2.

Footage released by the police department shows the man walking backwards toward officers with his hands up.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday afternoon, law enforcement officials said the man demanded that papers be handed over to the UN. These included medical papers and other documents, “nothing that told a story,” NYPD First Deputy Commissioner Benjamin Tucker said.
