GlaxoSmithKline will extend a trial testing an experimental rheumatoid arthritis drug on patients suffering from pneumonia related to COVID-19 to focus on the elderly as it seeks to firm up encouraging findings so far. A trial started in May last year has shown that the drug known as otilimab helps patients over 70 with severe COVID-19 get off mechanical ventilation or high-flow oxygen support faster, the British drugmaker said on Thursday. The benefit for younger trial participants was not clear enough to merit further investigation, prompting the re-focus on the elderly in a follow-up trial with a targeted 350 participants.

"Tutti i dispositivi di cui si parla sono stati sottoposti con esito favorevole a questa procedura come risulta dai relativi verbali di approvazione del Cts - sottolinea la struttura commissariale - Inoltre, la totalità dei dispositivi provenienti dall’estero vengono validati, di nuovo ai sensi di legge, dalle strutture preposte dell’Agenzia delle dogane che, solo dopo averne verificata la compatibilità con le norme vigenti, ne autorizza lo sdoganamento. Anche ai sensi di un protocollo sottoscritto dalla Struttura commissariale con l’Agenzia delle Dogane, sin dall’inizio della emergenza, tali verifiche sono state esperite". "Quanto alla documentazione cui si fa riferimento nei suddetti articoli di stampa, ovvero quella fatta pervenire unilateralmente e senza alcuna richiesta alla struttura commissariale il 2 dicembre 2020 dai fornitori, era nella sua totalità già nella disponibilità degli uffici del Commissario e messa a disposizione degli inquirenti", concludono gli uffici del Commissario Straordinario per l’Emergenza Covid, Domenico Arcuri.
